Anyone interested in the history of St. Marys will have an absolute blast! The lovely man running the place gave us a 4 hour tour! (It didn't feel that long though!) He is so clearly passionate and knowledgeable about every little piece of history. Please ask for the tour when you visit, you won't regret it. I'll have to come back again, because we didn't even get to see everything!

Awesome!! Lots of Pottawatomie history, local history, the Jesuits in St Marys, old farming equipment, dentistry, and on and on. Best part of all is the very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They knew what to see in Wamego, and an old gravel road and how to find it. Now, this special gravel road IS the Oregon Trail and you can drive it for, oh, 15 to 20 miles over to Louisville.

Don't miss this stop if you're in the area.

Great little museum for local history. While the Pay Station Museum is open daily only during the summer, I'm pretty sure that anyone wishing to visit can call and set up a special appointment for a tour. I've visited several times myself and it's well worth it!

The St. Marys Museum shares the history of this historic town and of the area to its visitors. It is a very impressive museum for being located in a small town and houses artifacts dating back to 1848 and before.
The original building is on the National Historic Register.

Built in 1857 this original building is the oldest building in Pottawatomie county. It served as a government agency/pay station for payments made to the Potawatomi Indians.

The museum complex is made up of 3 buildings and is open daily from 1-4 PM and at other times by appointment. There is no admission fee.
