My kid was in Little Shop of Horrors and it was a great experience. The directors are amazing people. You can see they truly care about theater and the kids involved. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone who has a love for the theater.

Edit: in response to their response, we did see the long rehearsal times when we signed up, however it said that most children wouldn’t be called for the full length of time. We signed up with that expectation, but that wasn’t the case. Regardless, the length of rehearsals wasn’t the issue. It was the behavioral expectations.

In addition, I was on site and did ask about the breaks and was told the kids weren’t allowed to do homework other than during the 15 minute dinner break.

You’re using a false analogy by comparing this theater experience with sports. In sports, the children are allowed to move their bodies and talk with teammates. In fact, that is encouraged. That is not the case in your theater.

Ultimately, my disappointment lies in the unrealistic behavioral expectations for children, and the authoritarian discipline.

Again, the actual theater directors are amazing and had the children well in hand. It’s when the administrators attend rehearsals, it seemed to become a chore to be there.

I don't write reviews, but I feel like this one is necessary. My child was in a performance there. The rehearsals for 2nd-7th graders last between 4-7 hours (4 hours on a school night and 7 hours on a Saturday). During this time, the children aren't allowed to have access to their phones or any sort of device while they are in the audience waiting for their scene to be called. They aren't allowed to talk to their friends. This sort of isolation and patience to be able to sit still in a seat for 4-7 hours without stimulation of any kind, I know I wouldn't be able to do and I'm almost 50.

I tried talking to the staff and Executive Director about this situation. Instead of listening and compromising, they doubled down and gave the children assigned seating the next day so they're now not even sitting by their friends.

My daughter gets out of school at 4:00 and has to have eaten and be to rehearsal by 4:30, then gets out of rehearsal at 8:30pm.

I requested that she be allowed to do homework when she wasn't called for a scene. They don't allow this and tell the children to do their homework while on break, when they are supposed to be eating and going to the bathroom and socializing and walking around.

After being at school all day without access to her phone and without being able to goof around or get energy out, she is then required to sit still and be quiet at CenterStage for 4 hours. The restrictions they put on these kids is quite excessive. Other professional organizations, like Denver Center for the Performing Arts, allow children to move around and do their work while not in a scene. This is for professional level performances too.

I would not recommend this as a place to send your child.

Someone said in their review that this is like a prison for children. I have to agree.

I have given this organization 2 stars because their young director is nice and has fun with the kids. It is the Administration who puts these stifling rules on the children.

I would have added this review to Facebook, but they don't allow reviews on their page.

Loved my time preforming in CSTC productions. The Staff is super friendly, and is patient in ensuring that everyone can find there talent's apex.
Honestly i was very sad when i grew out of being able to preform with such a wonderful group of humans, and i can't wait to introduce my children to the preforming arts with Center Stage someday!
