Not everyone picks up their dogs fecal matter. However, the provided poop bags are biodegradable and go down a shoot very easily. Most dogs get along with each other, and the separation between large and small is a great idea. We have a very small mature dog. There are some places in the fence line that are open and can allow them to escape. This needs to be addressed. If they are not fixed by the next time I go, I will be taking zip ties.

On the residential side of the small dog park, there is a vehicle entry gate, and occasionally, the mud ruts made from the tires also allow for a space for smaller dogs to get out.

Lame! Traveling through with my dog and was so excited to bring her to this park after seeing the review. I chose this one because the other one close by said members only. And I was told the other one is muddy and has no water for the dogs. So I chose this one. But here we are and it also requires a membership. And I had no Idea I needed a membership which is a year not even a day pass until I got to the gate and tried to open it when a very rude woman told me this park is for “members only”. A “Members only” public dog park….okay then Iowa.

I’ve been to so many different dog parks in my travels and my dog and myself have had the best time exploring these different parks and meeting people and dogs while we travel so to have this be the case in Iowa of all places hahaha is just comical and soooo disappointing.

The Ankeny Dog Park is very neatly kept. The regulars who visit are lovely people and we have made a lot of dog friends. We have been going for over 2 years and have only had a couple negative experiences.

How very Iowa to require a code to access what should be a public resource. When you come to visit my town you can use my dog park. Would be nice if you did the same.

Great park..!! No kids under 10!!!

People please purchase your dog park tags before you come.

You can purchase a tag from hyvee , that helps keep it nice and the people are usually legit dog people..

Kids under 10 not allowed for safety reasons , which makes sense to me.. The dogs can really get running around fast...

This is a great park for legit dog people, follow the rules or don't come in... 🙂

Entry way is close to water fountain area. Plan to stagger in entryway if you have big dogs, lots of room to sniff thru the fence. Not a lot of shade.
Water pond area is in a separate enclosure.

Big place, new. I hear
Dogs can swim if you want them to, but I wouldn't. Water in summer, place to, and bags for poopy. All in all, you got to see if you like. Little to no trees.

Great place to let dogs exercise and play off leash. One side for larger dogs, one side for smaller dogs, and a secured pond area if your dog wants to swim or splash. Dog waste bags and water available on site. Some balls and play equipment as well.
