I recently visited the Arcadia Small Animal Auction for the first time.

The moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with an overwhelming smell of urine and feces. Now, I'm a veterinary technician of 16 years, and frequently attend livestock sales, so smells rarely make me as nauseated as this building. The animals themselves were caked in filth and feces. Very sick animals with diarrhea, upper respiratory disseases, and open wounds covered in matting. There we so many animals to a cage, chickens were dying of asphyxiation. The pigs were standing over eachother, unable to move. The only animals that had food or water available were two parakeets that sat in a corner.

Puppies were being sold in front of the building, all of which were less than 6 weeks old, no health certificates.

When I made a complaint to the woman in the front office, she immediately became belligerent. One of the male employees told me that I should die.

They treat animals very poorly. I seen a pig kicked in the head and mouth. I’ve seen animal dragged by their ears to the trucks. Horrible conditions smelling of urine. I hope this place gets shut down

The Arcadia Animal Auction House is a great place to sell animals. I have read all of these reviews and come to find out looks like people are basing their experiences off of the people that come to the Auction and not the People that run the auction themselves.
We get here at 5:00am to help open the gate for Jerry and we love meeting the lady at the front desk for checking in our animals when we put them in line for the Auction. The owners do not "Favor" anyone that comes here. As for those who say it's hard to understand the auctioneer, it's an auction for crying out loud... If you've ever been to a real auction you'll never understand them either.

Keep in mind, the owners are not the owners of these Animals. They did not care for them prior to them being there and you are buying at your own risk. The health of these Animals is not on them and is at the buyers risk alone. Those of you putting the blame on the Auction House, SHAME ON YOU! The blame is on the people like you or I that bring the animals to sell. If you have a sick animal just do not bring it to the auction to an unknowing customer.

The only downside to the auction is the customers. They come to the auction with their trailers and park up front and take up two or more parking spots. They park in the road and making the parking lot hard to travel. More often than not customers also come to bid on animals and never have a cage to put the animals in. So here I am ready to go home and I have to stay longer than I want to because I have to wait for them to find a cage to now transfer my birds they bid on to another cage.

If people would just be courteous and respectful to others, park closer together and bring cages to transport your winning bids, then I believe the Arcadia Auction House would actually work much better in the long run.

Stay away from this place!! . Animals are treated horribly. The overall price check out was completely wrong. Whoever writes the winning bids down can’t get it right which resulted in overpayment. After spending over $500 on poultry, they all died within a week of Mareks disease They are selling sick animals!
