I recently watched my friend's children's camp performance at Bakersfield Community Theatre, and it was fantastic. The camp, held at this historic theater, provides a creative and supportive environment for kids. The final performance was full of energy and showcased the children's hard work and enthusiasm. The instructors were passionate and ensured every child felt included and inspired. Overall, the camp is a great opportunity for kids to explore theater, make friends, and gain confidence. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and highly recommend it for young aspiring actors.

I went to the one act festival on 8/11. This was my first time at Bakersfield Community Theater, I went after seeing the article in the paper. I was a little disappointed.

The theater was in a very bad part of town, and to enter the parking lot you have to drive through a dangerous neighborhood. It’s very confusing. From the outside, the theater is in really bad shape and not welcoming. I almost changed my mind and didn’t go.

Once inside, the staff was kind. The theater inside wasn’t the nicest, but wasn’t the worst. It’s not a large theater, but sitting in the back I couldn’t hear about a third of the dialogue because they weren’t using microphones which seemed very amateur.

The scenes were all locally written and most were decent, some really good, and some not so good. Some of the actors were really good.

I’ve been to two other theaters in town to see shows, this is now my third. This was the only theater to disappoint me. It’s not inherently bad, but it doesn’t live up to the other theaters/productions I’ve seen in terms of location, set, costumes, quality, etc.

Would I recommend coming here? Probably not. There’s just so many better options for live entertainment/community theater.

(Side note: they claim to be California’s oldest operating theater. According to Google, California’s oldest continuously operating theater is the Lobero theater, founded in 1873 and rebuilt in 1924. So I’m not sure how true this is)

Just saw a wonderful play here. Great cast. Longest standing theater in all of California I believe they are on their 96th season. Definitely has a vintage feel to it and I highly recommend. Tickets are very reasonably priced. All the staff and actors were great! If your a local or from out of town check out BCT

Had a wonderful time! Excellent production for a community theatre. I saw Night of the Living Dead, and the SPECIALFX were great! So much fun for a night out... only problem was that parking was hard to find, as there were no instructions after purchasing tickets online, nor was there any helpful signage. Nevertheless, we called the theatre and were cheerfully given simple and accurate directions to their parking lot. There were also no ushers the night we went, and the concessions were quite pricey, $2for a bag of economy popcorn, and the stand workers seemed very rushed and stressed. However I will definitely be a returning patron, and recommend this theatre for a fun outing...
