We love old ghost towns and mining areas. The buildings were interesting and the ranger was very helpful in assisting us in learning about life here over 100 years ago.

Awesome place to take a pit stop and learn some history. I can't imagine the grime and violence that took place in these old mining camps. Some of the structures have completely crumbled while others remain totally intact. Wells Fargo building was built to last!

Interesting ghost town located a few miles off the main road. About 14 buildings from the mining town that used to process ore, silver and gold. Nice walking path allows you to traverse the site with minimal effort. Can easily see it all in under an hour.

An excellent example of a preserved ghost town, this site has a lot of history, and a lot to show. It is very accessible, being right off a well-maintained road, with footpaths that allow access to all levels of capability. This site allows everyone who visits to walk the same street as those who first settled here. Completely recommend for a good glimpse into the past, and one of the best ways to see what it was like to live so remotely so long ago.

Although getting here is not for the faint of heart, once you arrive you find an amazing and well preserved mining town. There are a lot of informative plaques along the marked path through the town. It’s amazing to think hundreds of people lived in the area just over 100 years ago.

We have always loved to visit. We stay at the Rustic Valley Cabin in Challis. Perfect place to stay and an amazing ghost town to visit when In The area. 4 miles from the place and the bayhorse lakes are fun to go to with campsites as well.

We drove 3 1/2 hours from Twin falls only to see the gate locked and not open. Kind of disappointing when google says it’s open at 9am. If you continue up the road past the main gate, you’ll come to a bridge that allows foot traffic. Such a fun place to explore and see how people lived. I didn’t see anything on any website either stating the place would be closed. Maybe that should be updated also.
