I've been taking my dog to Belltowne for years, and every year seems to get worse. Constant changes in vets, scheduling, and policy. The people they are hiring get more and more unfriendly. My dog has been terrified of Belltowne ever since his neuter surgery there in 2021. He's totally fine until we pull into the parking lot at Belltowne, and then, all of a sudden, he turns into a giant shaking ball of anxiety and tries to run out the door. Beside all of that, as of recently, they suddenly refuse to authorize prescription orders from outside sources. I've been ordering from 1800PetMeds (because they offer coupon codes, which makes them more affordable than going through the vet) for over 10 years without issue. I recently ordered my dog's prescription, and after PetMeds made several attempts over 3 weeks to get an authorization, I had to call Belltowne to find out what was going on. The first time I called, I was told the doctor didn't authorize any more refills, and they would go ahead and take care of it. Later, they texted and said they would fill the prescription through their own pharmacy, which is not what I wanted them to do. I again tell them that I already ordered from PetMeds, and they are waiting for the authorization, which only requires a phone call on Belltowne's part. The receptionist at Belltowne then informs me that their policy has changed, and they will only provide written scripts that you must go pick up from them, otherwise they will gladly fill the prescription through their own pharmacy at a much higher price. Why was this change never mentioned before, and why didn't they mention it the first time I called? I was clearly lied to the first time I called.
After I called again, they finally decided to call in the authorization but only authorized a 6 month refill when I have always ordered and had already ordered a 12-month refill. So then PetMeds had to cancel my 12-month refill order and switch it to a 6-month refill, which was more expensive per dose. I just spent over $800 at Belltowne so that I could get my dog's yearly supply of Heartgard, and now they want to withhold the full year of medication so that they can force me to spend even more money? How is this not wrong?
There is very obviously an agenda at Belltowne.

My 14 old Maltese/shih Tzu was in pain and instead of having one-three seizures a year, has had so many this year I lost count. She was basically sleeping all day except meal times and sometimes she wouldn't eat. We had never been seen at beltowne, but they have us an appointment for end of life to help her cross the rainbow bridge. Upon arriving, we were greeted, smiling face on receptionist until she realized what we were there for and immediately offered her condolences and support. When Schatzi and I were taken to the exam room, the vet tech came in, got info, was very sweet and kind, and offered her condolences. The vet came in, confirmed she agreed with end of life appointment, explained to me what would happen and what to expect. They let me hold my lil diva princess through the whole procedure .from getting her IV placed to holding her until they took her body to be sent for cremation. I will always be appreciative to the company and staff for seeing us and taking care of both of us. My babies will be new clients of beltowne because of this. (I still have cats, and the cats mom had when she passed) Being there for the appointment we were there for, I didn't get any pictures, my focus was on Schatzi ... But..when I get one of the cats in, I'll post pics

They always take great care of my dogs. Latest trip was about my 35 week old F German Shepherd. Potty trained for quite some time but started having accidents. Thank God I thought this through and didn't assume she was having behavior issues. Turns out Belltowne found a roaring UTI! Treated with antibiotics and re-checked 5 days later. AND no more accidents! Great Job Belltowne!
UPDATE: My GS female is very reactive with strangers especially males. We have gone to other veterinarians for emergency and the vet could not/ would not touch Ziva but rather exasperated her reactiveness. But we have never ever had this experience at Belltowne. They know that she is reactive because of abuse in the past and handle her appropriately. Calming her down very very fast. As Ziva's mom, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. A vet that exasperates a dog's reactiveness should not be working in the field. I cannot name names though. Bravo Belltowne. The only thing I wish Belltowne could improve on is availability for emergencies. We often have to take our dogs elsewhere for emergencies but that's pretty much the norm these days I understand. PS I have seen a lot of complaints about price. I don't like the prices of taking care of my two dogs either. The veterinarian services are very expensive. But here's the thing, most of you don't consider the amount that the vets owe for their student loans, This student loan forgiveness did not help the veterinarians out at all, it is a wives tale that they make so much money that their student loans don't impact them because it's severely does impact them! So please don't complain too much because we don't want people to stop going to veterinarian school. Also most of you don't stop to think about how hard it is to become a veterinarian. It's actually harder than becoming a regular human doctor. Stop and think. I do wish the state would help with some sort of funding for people who adopt animals. The need is great. Everything is expensive these days. But please don't blame Belltowne Veterinarian. If you want cheaper prices then you need to dig in and research and find something like Dr Jeff on TV and his clinic. You're going to have to travel. But don't blame Belltowne. Everybody has to eat!

Best Vet clinic I have ever taken my pets to. The vet took their time with my dog Jamie and made sure he was comfortable with her. She was extremely loving and patient. All staff was very good with my dog who is a 95 pound 7 month old puppy. Jamie is a handful, and they enjoyed him so much. He wasn't nervous at all, I didn't feel rushed at all. They did lots of extra things to help me with Jamie. There wasn't one unfriendly staff member. I am so upset I am moving away because I know Belltowne is one in a million. I even missed an appointment for my cat because I couldn't find him (He's indoor/outdoor) and they even tried rescheduling other people to get him in. They go above and beyond. Take your pet here, they will be well taken care of!

Vets are put in a tricky spot between negotiating with a general population that's largely ignorant about pet care, and trying to be an advocate for said pets. But that doesn't excuse how the vets at Belltowne manipulate you into giving them more money for completely unnecessary and expensive procedures, going as far as trying to put pre-payments into your bill for future assessments they'd like to perform. Speaking of the bill, they seriously give you a list of everything they could possibly do for your pet, and then stand there and try to guilt trip you when you say you're not interested in paying for something like a completely unwarranted fecal analysis.
Furthermore, these folks were more interested in finding out how much a heart exam would cost for our 13 year old chihuahua so they could see if anesthesia is a safe option for him than they were with talking with us about end of life care for a dog who's obviously way too old for such business, and that's a level of unethical greed I can't tolerate.
And since when does it cost $100 to put a microchip in a well-behaved cat Absolutely ridiculous.
I don't often write reviews, but goddamn, Belltowne is the only veterinary office that made me feel like I was swindled. We will not be coming back.

We had a 2 week old kitten with an upper respiratory infection. It's condition had worsened to the point that the kitten needed to be seen immediately. At 4am they were able to see the kitten, treat her and prescribe the necessary medication. Great work!

Hands down the worst vet experience I've had. My dog has been experiencing seizures since he was two (they're hereditary), and have increased in the past few months, so I figured it was time to get him in and on some medication at this point as he is now nine. The only pleasant person I delt with at the time of his appointment was the vet assistant that checked us in, which was subpar. The veterinarian there, Heidi Brees, is VERY strange. Never introduced herself when she walked in the room, acted super timid towards my dog (mind you, he's never been aggressive towards anyone nor was he showing any signs of aggression while there), had ZERO communication skills, and seemed much more worried about him getting his vaccinations done then she did about addressing the seizure disorder. I lead the entire conversation, and got a "Hmmm, yeah....." at every question or concern I had. They then wanted to do very expensive blood work before they would even consider any medication for him. I walked out with Gabapintin (used for pain management.....). Called back a couple days later as he had had another seizure. I got the "Yep, we'll put it in here for the doctor and we'll call you back as soon as she's able to take a look at the note". They never called back, so I called again a day later. The receptionist says "Oh yeah, looks like she put some notes in here".....Long story short, they're SUPER ready to take your money, but can't even call back when the doctor has put important notes in the file....We've just been seen by a vet over in Seattle and it's hands down a night and day experience. Save your money, go somewhere else!! This place doesn't care and had gone extremely downhill since Dr. Ryan left.
