So glad that I found Blackheart K9 Services to assist with training my golden retriever. From the initial call to the pick up and drop off everything ran extremely smoothly. Scott is very knowledgeable about all things dogs and is the perfect dog trainer for anyone in the Atlanta metro area. Scott was able to hone in on sit, down, come, place and heel.

When they do the drop off they don't just bring your dog back to your home. They stay and do a multi hour long demonstration and teach you everything that you need to know about how the commands work, when and how to use them. This is really important so that you can help the dog succeed.

The day after my dog was dropped off we had people in the house to do some repairs. I put the dog in place and when the people he had never met walked by multiple times and he didn't move I was very impressed. Money well spent and any future dogs we get will be coming back.

My rescue dog was super anxious and reactive before coming here. I was truly worried I could never introduce her to new people or take her out in public again. That is when I found the Blackheart canine anxiety program, and I signed her up. The trainers here took their time and worked with her as long as she needed in order to get her to a place in which she can go out into any store or be around people and know how to manage her anxiety. Not only that, they gave me the tools in order to keep improving her further and let me know that they will always be there for me no matter what. She has a dog. She still my sweet girl, but she’s more ready to face the world, and I will forever be grateful for that. Throughout her time there, I was constantly sent pictures, short videos, and long videos with explanations of the training happening . I constantly felt in the loop, and knew that I was always able to get in touch with the trainers if I needed to. I will forever recommend this entire company, their strong commitment to their dogs is clear. The heart that they have for each, and every animal that comes into their program is abundantly apparent. You will be so happy if you bring your dog here

Absolute Miracle Worker – Best Dog Trainers/Behaviorists You Could Ever Ask For!
If you’re serious about solving your dog’s behavioral issues—whether it’s puppy issues, obedience, or reactivity—please read this review.
After struggling with our Cane Corso, Primo’s, dog-reactive behavior for what felt like forever, my husband and I almost gave up. I even considered returning Primo to the breeder, a decision that broke our hearts. We had worked with 5 different trainers, including a three-week board-and-train, but none made a real difference. They focused only on obedience, without addressing the root of Primo’s behavioral problems.
Then we found Blackheart K9, Scott, and Ally, and it truly changed everything. From the start, it was clear Scott has a rare combination of deep knowledge, compassion, and expertise. Blackheart K9’s approach is based on respect, kindness, and an understanding that each dog is unique. Scott doesn’t rely on quick fixes or generic solutions; he takes the time to assess the dog’s behavior thoroughly.
Scott spent a lot of time on the phone with me to understand our challenges and Primo’s behavior. After a few conversations, he offered to visit our home to meet Primo. He came by, no obligation to hire him, just to observe Primo in his environment. He spent 2-3 hours with us and even took Primo out and got to experience his reactivity firsthand! He identified the core issues and promised to Taylor (Scott’s last name, lol) a training plan specific to Primo’s needs.
We hired Scott immediately, and the results were extraordinary. Where other trainers failed, Scott succeeded. Primo’s behavior was completely transformed. Blackheart K9’s methods focus on building trust and communication between dog and owner, not dominance or control. Primo, who once struggled with fear-based reactivity, became a confident, well-behaved companion.
The turning point was when we met Scott at The Home Depot, the 1st location for Primo’s turnover. Primo was calmer, more focused, and far more responsive than we ever imagined possible. Primo always disliked the store, but Scott’s training worked wonders.
What’s most impressive is that Blackheart K9 doesn’t just train dogs—they empower owners. Scott and Ally taught my husband and me how to read Primo’s body language, understand his needs, and respond in ways that foster trust and respect. I never knew that the right trainer could bring about this level of change, and it’s all thanks to Scott, Ally, and the Blackheart K9 team’s incredible methods!
If you’re struggling with your dog’s behavior or simply want to improve your relationship with your dog, I cannot recommend Blackheart K9 enough. They are experts with a true passion for helping dogs and training owners! This experience has been life-changing for us, and we will always be grateful for the impact they’ve had on Primo’s life. Can’t thank them enough. Choosing Blackheart K9 is the best decision you could make for your dog. I just wish I had video of the turnover!

Had a great experience with Josiah training our dog smoke! He’s learned to walk so well on a leash and is ignoring things that would’ve typically sent him over the edge. It’s definitely an investment, but it’s well worth it if you’re dealing with issues you may not be equipped to manage yourself! He also kept us updated regularly with pictures/videos and answered any questions that we had (there were not many because he explained everything so thoroughly). I’m overall very satisfied with everything he’s learned so far and excited to see how he progresses over time!

Josiah did a great job teaching Ringo & us how to tame Ringo's natural prey drive. Our daughters cat has had to stop coming to the house because Ringo just couldn't control himself. Barking, whining, scratching at doors & pacing. This is Ringo behaving himself while Beef the kitty watches! This had NEVER been possible before. It is difficult to send your pup away for 3 wks but it is so worth it!

I have spent a long time writing this review regarding our experience with Vanessa because articulating the impact she had on our family goes far beyond a simple google review. I have some experience in puppy training prior to adopting our dog, so I felt confident going into adoption. However, when the pandemic started to lift and we returned to work, our dog started exhibiting some clear anxiety and aggression. This was astounding ro us considering how much time and love and energy we invest into him. I did everything I could think or find to do, behavior specialists, every combination of medication you can imagine, training sessions, pheromone diffusers, yet nothing seemed to fix the problem.

In a final straw effort to prevent his aggression, I found the board and train program at Blackheart after a very long and intensive research process. My first green flag was that the price of the board and train was the same whether it was for 3 weeks or 5 weeks which told me that this was not about making money, but rather truly rehabilitating these dogs. Vanessa has 17 years of experience with (I believe) 16 of those years being specialized in aggressive dogs that have aggression due to anxiety. We arranged to have our pup picked up the week leading up to our wedding. It wasn't the most ideal time to have this abrupt of a change, but again, we were at a desperate place. After pick up, Vanessa agreed to send us in depth details of the training she was doing. We wanted to stay up to date every step of the way so that we can continue the training when she brought him back. I told her in one of our communications that I would do anything for him, including cancelling my wedding and coming to pick him up if that is what was best for our dog. Well, those words came back to haunt me... Two days before the wedding, I received a call letting me know that our big guy was not adjusting to the training very well, and needed to come back home. A crucial part of this training involves quiet decompression time for the dog to sit without a lot of stimuli so they can process what they have just learned. Our dog was having some pretty severe separation anxiety being away from home and was not able to settle enough to even begin to decompress. Vanessa let us know that she would have to bring Gershwin home right away. To be clear, she let us know that this was a VERY special circumstance that had only happened for her 1 other time in her career. This is NOT the normal chain of events. However, before I could finish the thought that our dog is now a lost cause, Blackheart arranged lodging for Vanessa to come to our house and complete the training in an environment more conducive to his needs with no additional charge to us. She did this knowing our wedding was literally in a matter of 48 hours, and she made the difficult decision to bring him home because again, it was in the best interest of our dog. (a gift i will be forever grateful for)

This was a gift not just for our dog, but also for us because we got to see Vanessa in action. Vanessa is the rosetta stone for dog training. Her knowledge of dog psychology and behavior is so extensive, our sessions ran over on countless occasions because I had so many questions, and she enjoys talking about dogs. It turns out, caring for a child and caring for a dog are two very different things... She helped us channel all of the love we wanted to give our dog into a much healthier structure that would benefit our whole family unit. It was a complete assessment of our family dynamic, along with the unanticipated therapy to support the training. She helped us build confidence and trust back with our dog. She gave our guy a second chance in this life, and we are forever grateful. I promise to keep this review updated as the years go on to keep you updated on our progress. Training is not an easy fix, it is a lifestyle adjustment. If you stay committed to it, the results are forever. Vanessa is an angel human that has saved countless 4 legged friends. We are forever grateful.

After adopting a 3 year old catahoula/pit mix I reached out to Blackheart k9. I had the pleasure of working with Vanessa. She really help me through the entire process and answered my million questions. My dog Draco was with her board and train for 4 weeks and has come back an absolute dream. It has been very easy to keep up with his training due to Vanessa’s in person instructions. I am truly grateful for all that Vanessa and Blackheart K9 has done for Draco and I. 100% recommend!!!
