Third time I have been to the BCTR. Excellent, intimate venue, where they clearly curate the highest level of new work. The team working the house are really cool and friendly. The acting (in the production of DENMARK) was stellar. Recommend over the off-broadway works I have seen in the past few months, every time.

I enjoyed the play Dimes Square. Astonishingly, I was sitting two seats away from Mark Ruffalo (had to move to let the bartender take a seat near the door) and he seemed to enjoy it even more than I did. My 15 seconds of fame! … or 2.75 hrs close to fame—there is only 1 bathroom so intermission drags out— enjoyed the Fernet but didn’t feel the need to tip.

When I arrived I thought I was in the wrong place, as the area is very industrial and not where you'd expect a theater to be. I went to the BCTR for one of their speakeasy series. The event was fun, the woman playing piano was good and had a deep range of different songs she could play and the folks I mingled with were also nice and pleasant. If there's anything I'd change about the evening, the host I think his name was George or Gordon seemed to be a bit too tipsy and made some weird "jokes" throughout the evening. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the speakeasy experience and would encourage anyone to check it out as well

Can't recommend this place highly enough.The Center brings unique and fresh theatrical work to audiences across the NYC area. In addition to their shows in rep, they offer classes & workshops with professional artists and actors who have first hand knowledge of their craft. Through their community of collaborators, they provide an intimate environment that encourages growth, thought & imagination.
