I was not a customer of Brookstone until today when Dr Callie Mizell and her assistant Zuanne helped me with my 8month old puppy and performed emergency surgery. I had such a bad experience with my other vet, they told me I had to put my dog down or surrender him but a friend told me to go to Brookstone. Dr Mizell saved my dogs life as well as mine and I am so grateful for the urgency, care, compassion, and support her and her team gave me through this traumatic process. We used to love this vet when we switched over 4 years ago when we moved to the area. But the past year something has really shifted with them internally and we won’t be taking our dogs here anymore. The prices are astronomical. We just took them in for vaccines and to pick up allergy meds and were charged over $400 for a 10 minute appt with an exam fees for each dog added on. One of our dogs was having a few days of vomiting recently where we were talked into a bunch of lab work (they love doing their labs constantly) that cost $3k only to be told we needed to take her somewhere else and in the end it was just a virus. Another incident was when our two dogs picked up kennel cough (after being vaccinated) and they put them on allergy meds for it (which I thought was odd). After paying hundreds of dollars we took them to another vet after their suffering continued for a few more days and was given antibiotics and they were over it within a few days. They also had us convinced one of our dogs has a heart murmur (with continuous ongoing lab work for her) when the new vet we go to now told us that based on her testing results it shouldn’t even be considered a murmur at all. I could go on and on. We just don’t trust them anymore.

I’ve been going to Brookstone for many years now and I absolutely love the staff! They take such great care of my fur babies and was so caring and loving with me when I had to put down my Kirby. I primarily see Dr West and he is amazing…he does not immediately dismiss/discourage my holistic approaches like many vets have done before but he instead listens, hears me out and advises as needed. Definitely recommend Brookstone for your veterinary care.
