Much better experience compared to previous years. We just went there today, as a walk in to get my daughter an ID card, and we were out of there in ten minutes. We had an appointment for the previous day, but the system went down. We were instructed to return the next day and no appointment needed. The hours of operation are longer now, 0600-1700, and they had all of the stations up and running. Very quick check in and we were called back before we had a chance to sit down in the waiting room. I’m glad things are working smoother there now. Used to be a headache.

I recently experience the absolute worst customer service EVER, during a recent trip to obtain a new Dependent ID card. That man, with dark hair and glasses, is completely undeserving of employment, ANYWHERE.

UPDATE: Upon calling the Pass & ID Office to obtain the building number for this ICE review. I received a call from the Office Manager (Thanks D) who was very proactive and helpful. I feel very assured that she will be able to address and help fix the issue.

I've been here 4 times in the last month for misc ID/family ID issue/reissue and the experience was completely different from how it was two years ago. They are open from 6am-5pm now and the wait times are significantly improved. Twice no wait really and once about a 20 minute wait. Glad they improved the manning/efficiency and extended the hours.

Okay, if you asked me 2.5 years ago when I first came here to get my son’s information uploaded into DEERS, I would have told you to avoid this place AT ALL COSTS. 2.5 years ago, there was nothing but young AD Marines working the kiosks (nothing wrong with that, but if you’re going to put someone in that position, they’d better be working there for a long time and be proficient at it). The young woman putting my son’s information into DEERS 2.5 years ago was clearly new, asked for help multiple times and even created 2 DOD numbers for my son which screwed up our process for getting him registered with TriCare & seen at NHCP. Fast forward to today, there is nothing but civilian staff working the office (which is reassuring because you know that is their sole duty). Brought my daughter’s documents in to get uploaded into DEERS and was in & out in 15 minutes. Awesome experience. Can’t speak the same for other issues related to pass & ID, but registering dependents into DEERS was cake.

Every time I've read up online about the requirements and have come prepared. But 3 of 4 times the computer system is down or the files have been corrupted so that they can't save digital signatures and I get any away. The people are nice and doing their job but the entire system is one of the most inefficient I have ever experienced.
And why does the office close at 2 pm, making it incredibly impractical for both working people and families. Why can't they stay open until 4 pm?

Like everyone, I read the reviews and I was expecting my visit to be an horrible experience. Fortunately I got my new ID and the service I received was good. Entire visit was about 20-30 minutes.

I can see why this place gets low ratings. It all depends on what time of day you come and who helps you. Doors open at 6AM and it's best to get there as early as possible. Make sure you have all required documents and information.

I prefer going to the DMV than coming here. No one ever answers the phone when I attempt to call to confirm or ask a question. And when I arrive, they tell you to come another day or call to make an appointment. Great advise, call to make an appointment, but we just won’t EVER answer the phone.

When I arrived for my appt Dec 14, 2022, I thought I had all docs to obtain a100% disability card but was told two were missing. I became very upset with myself but the young man at the desk, along with two other staff, calmed me down and directed me to the VA office nearby. The VA fellow was extremely helpful and able to provide one missing doc. I returned to the ID office, same young man, who then directed me to the library to obtain the other missing doc via computer on eBenefits VA. The library staff was very supportive. I returned to the ID office with all docs in hand (third time's a charm!) and only waited 15min until I was called to process my new ID card. Every person with whom I interacted at each of the three locations was compassionate, understanding and respectful. I can't speak for the low reviews by other people as my experience was top notch. Thanks to all who made me feel like I was more than just a number.
