On 19 January 25 my wife and I adopted our dog/ Puppy from them at an event at Rural King and we were super excited to add another dog to the family. We noticed that she seemed very inactive and look almost sad when in her crate amount other dogs. Needless to say we decided to give her a home under the impression that the adoption was in good faith by both parties. Fast forwarding, we noticed since getting her that she would not eat, drink and at time she would throw up dry heave and had diarrhea. This would go on for about two days until we noticed that she was loosing mass in her body. We didn’t know what to do so we made the decision to take her to the ER and the notified us that she had Kennel Cough and Parvo. The Vet also told us that she was very confident that she contracted it from this shelter . We contacted the shelter about the news and tried to see what they would do in this case and all they told me was that they would only give us back our adoption fee and that we were pretty much on our own with this $4000 bill from the Vet. This Shelter told me that they don’t test dogs for Parvo unless they show signs. Which was confusing to me because she was showing signs of sickness from the moment we got her. They did NOT test for kennel Cough and they did NOT test for Parvo prior to adopting her out.

me and my partner came from clarksville after looking on website at available dogs. the staff were unbelievably kind and helpful! found the dog we were looking for and had a meet and greet outside in a dog run. he was the sweetest dog and we decided to adopt him. since, he has been the best addition to our family! very sweet, kind and affectionate. couldn’t have asked for a better experience. if you’re looking to adopt, please consider CCAS! best staff i could have asked for!

This shelter deserves zero stars, it’s shocking they have a 4 star rating. They shouldn’t. I adopted a dog from this shelter and a day later found out she had parvo. The shelter did nothing and refuses to do nothing. She was coughing and wheezing the moment we got into the car. Assumed it was just kennel cough. We got home she threw up a few times and she wouldn’t eat or drink. The next still didn’t eat or drink. I was told by a volunteer that they typically euthanize any dog that shows signs of sickness and that the dog I adopted was sick but they were still trying to adopt her out. This place should be sued because now I’m dealing with my other dog who I’ve had for over a year, is now throwing up. I have spent over $3000+ on Arabella who nka Hazel, and now I’m about to spend more money on vet bills because this shelter was negligent on the care of animals. If you have a dog that tested positive for parvo like the litter of puppies that was also adopted out of there, call animal protective services.

Please inderstand that while I am upset, I do appreciate the services that are provided by shelters and efforts to saving animal lives.

With that said.

Myself and my 80 yearold parents were on our way to adopt a specific dog. I had been incommunications and realized my delay in getting there due to snow and ice, might mean i didnt get bear. They adopted bear out from under me when I was 3 hours into a 3.5 hour drive..that they KNEW about and acknowledged via messer. The person I communicated with I sent a message this am and said I am on my way to bring bear home. At no point was I told I had to phone adopt to secure him once they knew I was on my way. On Tuesday I was told I could phone adopt. I was never told I had toto secure..it was presented as an option..I justthought ill go get him...and no one mentioned this in 3 communications today telling them what time I would arrive. The people who run this shelter, I am sure see people say they are coming that do not. But they were getting messages as I was in transit. I never see myself adopting from this shelter.

Zero courtesy. They need better humaning skills. And although this is a policy of theirs..it was not made clear. I even asked for paperwork to fill out and was told I CoulD adopt him by phone.

I suggest whoever funds this organization consider upgrading your Standard Operation Proceedures related to adoptions and send information to those requesting it. Clearly you do not have consistency among staff.

I enjoy this place so much! They were very friendly

They are helpful. When I went in (looking to adopt), they were right there to get whatever animal I was interested in for a meet and greet.

I had found the perfect newest addition for our family. The adopting process was easy and convenient. I feel this is how it should be.

Thanks to them, my family was able to give this sweet girl a loving home the rest of her days! 💕

I will definitely go back to this shelter anytime we are in search for a pet.
