I adopted my girl Phoebe from the shelter in April, and I knew getting a shelter dog would require a lot of tender love and care. I was committed to get her training and I knew that I wanted only positive reinforcement training in fear of possibly traumatizing my already traumatized dog if I tried other training methods. I did a lot of research, and unfortunately so many trainers are not forthcoming about the methods and tools they use. I’ve done a few consultations with trainers who seemed promising on their websites, only to find out they use e-collars or prong collars, which I did not want for my girl.

Luckily, I stumbled upon Alexandra. Her whole program is virtual, which I wasn’t sure about at first, but the training I’ve received has been more valuable than any of the in-person sessions I’ve done with other trainers. The training sessions are all a series of games, which Phoebe was so receptive to. She was able to learn so many new cues in record time. I was really impressed to see my dog work through the game challenges and figure out what to do on her own! I feel that the program has set a solid foundation for when I start to practice our training outside with more distractions. Remember that training requires commitment outside of training sessions! You will get the most out of your dog’s training if you consistently practice the games with them everyday.

Alexandra is also very flexible with scheduling. There were a couple times I had to cancel and reschedule sessions last minute due to unexpected work meetings, and she was very accommodating. She’s also given me referrals to other local trainers who could help me with in person socialization with Phoebe.

If you are looking for a good positive reinforcement training program for your pup, definitely give Dog Savvy a chance! Alexandra’s love and passion for dogs and all animals is admirable and her wealth of knowledge has been invaluable to me and Phoebe.

We have two chihuahua mix rescues who have both benefited greatly from their training with Alexandra. One of our dogs was reactive, and its now much easier to bring him on walks as well as have visitors to our home. The other was quite skittish which made training on our own tricky. Alexandra really helped us navigate his needs and build up his confidence. Both of our dogs are more confident and much better citizens since they started training. Also, while we originally did training in person and weren't quite sure how well virtual training would go, Alexandra navigates Zoom training remarkably and we don't feel like we're losing anything from not having in-person sessions.

Alexandra is a wonderful teacher and trainer. She has a very calm and patient approach and everything is based around games and positive reinforcement. It turns out that training your dog is really fun when everything is a game! Our puppy can’t wait to do more training sessions, highly recommend!

As new puppy parents, my wife and I began our dog journey in a relatively lost and confused state. The internet was a miasma of conflicting information on the dos and do nots of raising your first dog and finding Alex from Dog Savvy was like finding an oasis after walking aimlessly in the desert.

She's been a wonderful source of information on a plethora of topics from product recommendations to behavior management and gave us the needed confidence and direction to navigate the various demands of puppy parenting. From dealing with a teething pup to managing separation anxiety, her insights have been extremely helpful. Her training program has been deeply gratifying and fun and we look forward to learning new lessons from her every week.

We would highly recommend anyone to subscribe to her program and couldn't imagine going on this new journey without her along for the ride.

We were panicked when our new shelter puppy started lunging, growling, and barking viciously at people and dogs. We contacted Alexandra and began intensive training to overcome his fear-based aggression and severe separation anxiety. Using treats to counter condition his fear responses and gradually exposing him to new dogs and people, he became calm, happy, and friendly with everybody. Alexandra was very positive about him, proactive in designing a program that would fit his needs and ours, and dedicated as a patient and reassuring teacher.

I found Alexandra when I was looking for a trainer to help me with some training tools and my dog’s incessant biting. I am so grateful to have found her! We did a virtual session which was honestly amazing. She walked me through each step of each training tool and it was great. Because of how the sessions work I know that I am doing the training task correctly since she tells me how to do it, watches me, and makes any needed corrections. I loved the virtual appointment and plan on doing more with her!

I recently adopted a dog from the shelter. Whenever I would try and leave my apartment, the dog would whine, then bark, and get generally upset. He had seperation anxiety that was quickly getting worse. After talking with the owner of a dog cafe in my neighborhood I learned about Dog Savvy LA. Lexi is the most qualified trainer in the greater LA area to work with dogs on seperation anxiety. She works with you to make being alone something they enjoy - she works to change the dog's mindset.

The second she arrived she got down to business, quickly assessing my dogs triggers, and working to build a rapport with him based of positive reinforcement. I was struggling with my pup, but Dog Savvy LA gave me the building blocks I needed to make sure my dog could be happy on his own. I am a big fan of the training method, which is all based on rewarding and loving your dog.

After searching for many dog trainers, I came across Lexi with Dog Savvy after watching one of her videos online. Our dog is 9 years old and she needed some help with not pulling on walks and aggression towards other dogs. From the first visit, we were so impressed with Lexi and noticed immediate positive shifts in our dog. We could tell Lexi had a "gift" with dogs. After our first session, we instantly bought a package with several more sessions. We are beyond satisfied and have been recommending her to friends who need animal training as well. Not only did the training help our dog but it helped us as people as well!
