Only attended puppy class here. What’s clear is the trainers all train with positive methods and care for dogs. A lot of them are on the list of recommended trainers for greater Seattle area.

Puppy class itself was a bit of a disappointment. All of the information the trainers share with you are pretty basic and can be found on YouTube, so unless you’re completely clueless - it won’t be that helpful. I’m a new dog owner and even I found the information too basic. You’re essentially paying to be in a space with other puppies and my guess is a lot of training schools charge for this service because they know new puppy owners don’t have too many choices for socializing their dog. Classes are broken up into approximately 4-6 minutes of play and then approximately 10 minutes of just sitting with your puppy on leash on mat while you listen to the trainers talk. They give a lot of different types of treats, but they’re all economical choices. If your dog has any sensitivities I would suggest bringing lots of your own treats to keep them focused throughout class. I definitely don’t like the fact that they use cream cheese and string cheese sometimes for high value treats because most dogs just get diarrhea and gas from dairy.

The class content also feels very on-the-fly because new people can join each session, so you’ll also probably see repeated content in your later classes.

By the end of my sessions, going to class was kind of a drag. If I did it again, I’d probably try to find 1x1 sessions with a trainer I vibe with. Of the trainers I met in the classes, I wouldn’t want to hire them even though they’re knowledgeable and effective. It’s hard to gauge personality matches for these things and it’s a very personal choice.

TLDR: Trainers with good experience and intentions, small business with some disorganization, class experience probably depends on the type of class you take and who’s teaching the class. A lot of the good reviews I see are with Reactive Redo classes and Danette Johnson (owner/founder), she didn’t teach my puppy class. Unfortunately my first experience was so subpar, I wouldn’t really consider the school again unless I had limited options.

My puppy attended the puppy training camp, and the trainers were fantastic. My puppy had a limp at one point, and we were able to reschedule when she was better. They were really accommodating, and ultimately my puppy got the training she needed! Super cute graduation certificate, and puppy report card. We will be back for more training classes for her!

Took my pup here for their puppy training camp, and then for basic training. They use positive reinforcement, and have fantastic trainers who are always willing to answer questions. I was impressed with both courses and all the instructors. Would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to start training their pup.

We are currently in the middle of our second class. The instructor is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. We've picked up a ton of great tips and games that we have worked into our daily lives. Our relationship with our dog has already improved so much, we're looking forward to being able to take some of the enrichment courses here as well. Highly recommend checking out the blog.

And best of all, the training is positivity based which is fun and sustainable.

I did the online dog training with Danette Johnston. Danette is so knowledgeable about dogs behavioral needs and really trains the human owners to recognize their dogs responses and tune in. Her training course is compassionate, humane, and in line with what science tells us about dog behavior.

I’ve done private training with Danette and an evening workshop with Erica and everything has been great! They’re experienced and knowledgeable certified trainers and Dog’s Day Out has the best selection of interesting classes, workshops, and activities I’ve seen.

Very solid training programs. Some of the trainers are very good. The teen play sessions are particularly helpful.
