I have nothing but good things to say about Dogtopia Broad Ripple! I waited until after a few visits to leave a review, and honestly our experience has been great. My girl Lucy comes home SO tired at the end of the day, and I love being able to check in on her throughout the day using the webcams in the app. (She also doesn’t leave smelling terrible, which is a big plus for me! With our previous doggy daycare place we always had to time daycare days with bath days because she would leave smelling so bad - but not at Dogtopia!)

Like most places they split dogs by size (which is great!), and I really like the 2 hours of downtime (dogs in crates, floors cleaned, etc.) at midday, as it helps give all the pups a mental and physical break from one another to avoid overstimulation.

The staff have all been super friendly and helpful when I’ve had questions, and I definitely plan to keep bringing her back. 🙂

TL/DR: DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! They are CRATED much of the day and receive 0 enrichment.

We've been taking our dog to Dogtopia once a week for a full day since it opened. When they opened, everything was GREAT! They had so much staff that everyone was bumping into eachother and they were all very excited and kind with the dogs and delivered excellent customer service.

As the weeks have gone by, I've noticed their staff numbers dwindling and a lack of enrichment for my dog.

Cut to yesterday, I check in on the cameras throughout the day as I normally do (who doesn't want to watch pups play when your in-between meetings?). I noticed at 11AM, her and all the other ~10 dogs were already in their crates for their lunch time wind down. Suspicious. I checked in later to see the Rover standing in the corner, not paying any attention to the dogs. I checked in again at 5PM to see my dog was once again in a crate.

I am paying for my dog to have enrichment and play, which their website proudly advertises. How is my dog going to have "the best day ever" if she's in a crate most of the day?

When I went to pick her up, I asked the attendant what the deal was with my dog being crated much of the day and she basically said they are understaffed. There were only 2 people in the facility yesterday evening. I asked to speak to a manager and she said the manager quit.

I sent an email to them and spoke with someone this morning who profusely apologized; however, I was talking to this person and she started talking to someone else. Clearly everything I said had fallen on deaf ears.

I would love to chat with upper level management about how poorly this business is ran and I truly don't think ill ever take my dog back, which is really disappointing.

Everyone here is incredibly friendly and takes the time to meet each dog, truly listening to the concerns of dog parents. Sola loves it here, and I couldn't be happier with the care she receives. Highly recommended!

Not all Dogtopias are the same!!

I frequently travel around the east coast and Midwest for work and school- depending if I know I am going to be around a place with family nearby I bring my dog with me. We usually try to stop by local Dogtopias for him to get some play in or on the occasion spend a night. Recently I visited another Dogtopia in the area on Meridian street that I really loved and felt like was great fit for my goldendoodle. Plenty of staff and friendly group. I was able to view webcams and see him running around the playroom all through the day except for lunch time.

When I learned there was one closer to home in Broadripple I was very excited. It’s a very cute looking facility and the entry exam for dog to be approved to play was similar if not identical to the other locations I have visited but I am afraid that is where things end in terms of quality for us. He passed and I was able to check the webcams like the other Dogtopias I have visited but I saw him crated outside of lunch time. The entire room was crated and it looked like they had just one person jumping from room to room every half hour or so. There were also some dogs that looked a little to big to be with him. This was not the experience I had at the other location nearby which had three rooms open and separated better by size. When I asked at pickup about the crating they said they were short staffed. I get it, staffing can be hard, but I wish I had known my dog would be crated because I would have gone to the other location to get a full day play. I asked if they were owned by the same people and they said no, which I think explains the staffing.

The only thing I liked at this location was the convenience of the area, and the packages seem interesting- something I would have considered if I needed to leave my dog with my parents for a while. If my dog could have more playtime throughout the day, I would consider making this our routine visit location when we come to town.

My Lucy loves to come to dogtopia in broad ripple. We are close enough to walk and she bounces all the way there.
