I've been on the fence about writing my review - but decided to get it done. My son started there in October, he really liked it and had a teacher who was great with him. So we decided to sign him up again for two most classes after the holidays. He had two new teachers, one being the manager of the theatre. They had some issues with my son in their class, they said he was so hyper he made the other kids feel uncomfortable. Which is odd cause the last teacher never mentioned any of that. The manager, I believe her name is Bre, ended up getting so frustrated with my son she would yell at him to the point he'd cry. They kept accusing him of being hyper - so one day my husband and I watched into his classroom from the window. My son was not hyper, in fact he was one of the only kids helping them clean up at the end of the class. What really made me angry is the other kids in the class that weren't helping were literally throwing chairs at each other and wrestling on the floor. My son was putting things away and the other kids are acting like lunatics. Without any accountability. I called and told them how I felt and they offered a prorated refund. I was happy with this result but the Manager Bre broke my sons spirit a little. She should NEVER be allowed around children. Its a CHILDRENS theatre. You're going to have children acting like children. If you dont know how to handle all types of kids dont teach them, go teach adults. I've been so disgusted with them and disappointed in myself for putting my son in an unsafe position.

My eleven year old daughter has had a magnificent experience with EVCT. Over the past year, or so, she has attended Audition Workshops, been cast in Main Stage productions and a Junior Main Stage production, taken camps and Master classes, and attended classes. Staff are very competent, highly enthusiastic about all aspects of theatre arts (writing, acting, dancing, stage management, directing, make up, costume design, music, choreography, set design, tech etc etc), nurturing, and there is very strong overall sense of community. My daughter has undoubtedly grown in various ways - willingness to try new experiences, confidence acting on stage in front of ~200 people at the fantastic Mesa Arts Center theatre, made good new friends, carefully managed her time, flexed her memory skills, dealt with the setback of not being cast, been a responsible and positive cast member, improved her acting, dancing, and singing skill. Thank you to all at EVCT for cultivating such a safe, welcoming, and encouraging space for children who want to try theatre! There seems to be something for every young aspiring actor at EVCT.

My daughter's took the summer acting camp and loved every moment of it! This was our first experience with evct and we highly recommend them! Wish it wasn't 30 minutes from our house so I could sign my girls up for their fall sessions. Great place!!
