I highly recommend everyone sign up for a class or workshop at Echo Theater! Whether you are curious about acrobatics and down to try something new, or maybe you're a more experienced aerialist looking for a vibrant community to do it with, this is the place for you! I've taken classes here weekly for about a year, and it has been the best experience. The instructors are welcoming, positive, encouraging and will meet you where you're at while challenging you to work towards your goals. The other students in class are a diverse group of skill levels and ages, and coming together in performances is just magical. Echo Theater is a Portland treasure worth supporting!

Excellent little theater space with risers but also enough floor space to do a black box production. Available for co-production or party rental. Focus on circus arts and multimedia performance with queerness and disability centered in most spaces. They offer youth camps as well as skills classes for all ages.

A real do-anything place for all ages - huge warehouse style and convertible theater. The floor was lifted in from the old opera house across the river back when the Echo Theater was a silent movie house. Very cool that the circus has stayed for over 50 years with a school, training, work, theater rentals, creative labs, community space...

Our small children loved their circus class. More than that, the institution opened up a world of gymnastics and physicality for them -- At Echo, we also saw an excellent and quite professional play put on by high schoolers, some of whom had come through my childrens' circus class. It helped them see what can happen if you stick with something, and the engaged teachers have been there to help that happen.

I was able to take a class here a few summers ago and it was amazing. I had such a great time and my teacher was really kind and supportive. He helped me learn stuff that I didn't think I could do! I really wish I could take more classes here!

I was super pleasantly surprised with my experience in Echo adult classes! I haven't had the best experiences with circus spaces in the past, and I am very picky about the kinds of group environments that feel welcoming to me. I found that Aaron (who taught my classes and is also part of Echo's leadership) is an absolute delight, deeply skilled in facilitation and justice work in addition to dance. I have only good things to say about the other staff I've interacted with, as well. Check it out if you're on the fence!

My roommate and I dropped in for a beginner aerial class, and it was awesome! We are not super flexible people, but the instructors were super supportive and patient. We ended up learning a lot and having a good time. I'll definitely be coming back.
