Went to this state park recently. We visited the little White House and it was quite educational. Also did a lovely waterfall hike in the park. Unfortunately I dropped my wallet somewhere along the way and did not realize until I was long gone. Another park patron turned in my wallet and a park ranger contacted me and offered to mail it to my home. Amazing human kindness on display! I highly recommend visiting this park.

F.D. Roosevelt State Park is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to explore nature in Georgia. The park offers a wide range of trails, from easy walks to more challenging hikes, all winding through lush forests, along creeks, and up to scenic overlooks. The diversity of the terrain keeps every hike interesting, and the views, especially from Pine Mountain, are absolutely stunning.

The park is well-maintained, with clean facilities, picnic areas, and plenty of parking. Whether you’re here for a day hike, a weekend camping trip, or just a peaceful retreat, this park has something for everyone. The historical significance of the area adds a special touch as well, and there are several spots to learn about F.D. Roosevelt’s connection to the park.

We camped at FDR State Park for our fall break, and we had a wonderful time. The campsite was spacious and gorgeous, with nearby walking trails and clean restrooms. We went horseback riding, and we visited the Wild Animal Safari, both of which made my 13 year old very happy. We spent one of the days hiking the trail to Cascade Falls, and that was perhaps my favorite part of our stay. The trail was absolutely stunning the entire way. Even if we didn't go all the way to the end, I would have been happy to hike only part of the way because there are so many beautiful falls and watering holes along the way. We had originally planned to go to the Smoky Mountains for fall break, but we had to change plans due to Hurricane Helene. I was so sad and disappointed about missing out on the Smoky Mountains, but FDR State Park really saved the day. This area is beautiful and I can't wait to go back.
