My daughter took lessons here for almost a year and my daughter loved every moment of it. Although she was excited about her lesson, she did have some trepidation about mounting a horse and riding on her own. Janice is very well in tune with her horses and with her students. She is great at teaching not about how to ride, but about the equipment, grooming, and how to apply what you learned riding to life. Her horses are really well behaved and well taken care of. Her classes are kept small and time is flexible. Plus for what you get in a lesson, her price is very fair. Unfortunately, we live in Commerce City so when she moved to Montrose we had to stop riding with her. But would have continued if feasible.

Janice is a wonderful therapeutic horsemanship teacher. She is amazing with kids and the horses , super knowledgeable about the latest with equine therapy for children. I spent a good year with her at her other ranch so from first hand experience with her watching her training horses for therapeutic riding, I can confidently say that she is fantastic with horses and horsemanship training! She is an all around awesome person!

For several years I volunteered at Sky View Acres when it was located near Commerce City CO. I served in several areas, the most recent in capacity as an assistant with therapeutic riding for children. Throughout my time at Sky View Acres, I found not only consistent and thorough care of the horses, but also was always struck by the comprehensive, intuitive and precise care of students and boarders, each according to their specific needs. I can't say enough about Janice Olson as an instructor and for children with special needs and for adults with needs of their own that require addressing (of which I was one). In short, if you are looking for professional, intuitive, caring riding instruction, go to Janice. If you have a child with autism/anxiety/physical issues/all or any of the above, go to Janice. If you are a veteran that thinks being around horses might give you a much needed lift into returning to life, go to Janice. If you're looking for a place to board where you don't have to worry about your horse getting the individual care it requires, go to Janice. Personally, I believe that she has been a longtime hidden gem in the horse world. She not only hears and reads "horse", she'll do the same for you.

Janice runs an excellent facility. I have show horses in Gunnison and like to take them somewhere warmer for the winter, so Sky View Acres was the perfect place. She requires current vaccines/health/coggins for anyone who comes on property which makes me feel great because I know my horses are safe. She is a great communicator and takes excellent care of anybody under her roof! I plan on being back during the winters!

My daughters went to Horses for Healing and it was a great experience for them. Janice and the volunteers were so patient and calm with them and set them up for success. My older daughter said "I liked doing the chores with them." Most importantly we felt the program was safe and flexible to their needs. I would recommend it to any other parents.

I started taking horseback riding lessons for the first time as an adult at Skyview Acres. I am really glad I chose them. Janice is an extremely intuitive and accommodating teacher. The whole environment was very down-to-earth and it was evident that Janice genuinely loves what she does.

I worked with Janice doing therapeutic riding it was the most rewarding experience. I learned so much about myself, my relationships with others and horses. I looked forward to my day with her and the horses each week. She was always so kind and patient with me. When I learned she was moving while I was happy for her I was really sad for my therapy with her to end. Working with Janice and her horses will be something you will cherish forever.
