I arrived at 4:30 pm and was told they were getting ready to close so I couldn’t look at any animals. It was 30 mins before their site said they closed. I will look elsewhere to adopt a dog.

I don't live in the Blytheville area, but my dad does. I've been looking for a small dog so I thought I'd stop in to see what they had available. Drove from surrounding area only to find that I needed an appointment just to look at availability. Tried looking on website to see if it would be worth setting one. Either they have only a couple dogs or it isn't very informative. I'll just look elsewhere.

My husband and I were driving from Chicago to New Orleans and found a little dog in the middle of the highway. We stop and called 911 and the Humane Society. The 911 operator said she will send someone but no one came. We called and talked to a lady from the "Humane" society. She answered and said she was just answering phones and nothing she can do for the little one. So sad. I had a bag of my dog's kibbles and left her water. I'll never get over this guilt.

We adopted an Isle of I'm mal terrier almost 2 years ago & Sparkle had been nothing but a joy. She was skinny & in need of being hroo.ed. Today is is a very precious part of our family. She is the best security system as she almost never barks, but when she does, be assured that you need to check out the situation. Great blessing for our family, we also have 3 cats.

Nice place doing good things. They do accept volunteers and donations any day of the week. If you have some time and wanna even just go play with some dogs just show up anytime they are open. Friendly staff who really seem to care about animals. Gets a little loud in the office sometimes with dogs in cages but its what one would expect the animal shelter to sound like.

My boyfriend and I made a roadtrip to Arkansas to pick up a dog, Princess, from blytheville humane society.
My overall impression of Blytheville Humane society was good. The management very clearly loved animals and you could tell they made a lot of sacrifices for their dogs - but you could see that they would benefit from extra help.. The woman introduced me to her husband that also helps out at the rescue.
The property was hard to find if you are not a local, my gps was not reliable- so better to use a map!
I was impressed with the diversity of dogs that they had, all beautiful. They introduced us to princess, took us to a quieter room where we could get aquainted, and they gave us a large bag of dog food to travel with so her stomach wouldn’t be upset on the 16 hour drive home. They sent me with a harness and tags with their info incase she got loose on the way home, and gave us a hug.
The reason I did not give Blytheville 5 stars is only because they told me she was microchipped- and she was not when I took her to the vet. Also, my vet informed me that she was not a one year old- but a slightly underweight 9 month old with a tapeworm.
Princess was only at Blytheville HS for around 2-3 months, so I am not sure when the tapeworm happened- or if someone was neglegent or not, but it only took a single pill to get her back to normal.
Princess is now named Lucille (Luci) and is Now 1 year old, fully trained, sharp as a tack, and completely integrated with the family- including our other dog Taz. Her DNA test came back- her big personality is a mix of staffordshore terrier, lab, golden retriever, beagle, and german sheapard!!! Needless to say, shes a keeper, and even with the issues mentioned, I’d adopt from BHS again in a heartbeat.

This is the hardest working group of people I have ever seen helping animals. The animils are vetted & cared for. They have foster homes for the cats & dogs. The people here truly love the animals & do the very best for each and every one of them. I hope more people will adopt from here instead of going to pet stores for animals that come from hoarders & puppy mills. We have adopted 2 dogs from Blytheville Humane Society & are so glad we did. Thank you.
