My group of 3 did the pottery class.
1) you could not sign multiple people up online without paying for each separately
2) the young female instructor of the class may know how to make pottery for herself, but does not know how to instruct. She was very poor at this skill; even when one person in my group asked “why do you do [some technique]?”, she said “I don’t know, you just do.”
2.5) I suppose because she is such a new instructor and didn’t know how to teach, she would make people start over from complete scratch even if they were almost finished but messed up slightly! Even when my friend stated that she wanted to keep it how it was (uniquely messed up, because she’d already started over multiple times due to poor instruction). We basically had to tell the instructor that my friend wasn’t starting over and liked her piece, as-is. But you could tell she wasn’t very understanding about this
3) the other multiple pottery making classes I’ve been to allows you to paint the pottery and then they put it into the kiln - the young instructor almost made this sound like it was an impossibility; which I would have believed had I not done it it in the past.
3.5) I also made at least 2-3 pieces at other pottery classes in the past (AND PAINTED THEM), and they only let you make one here. Very expensive for only ONE piece and not even painted.
4)no one ever called us to let us know the pottery was done - how else would we know if they don’t contact us?
5) since it took so long for them to contact about the pieces being done, I finally just went back (over 3 months later) to get my group’s pottery, I couldn’t remember whose piece was whose, and the company didn’t not label them or keep them separated from other’s pieces.
6) my piece did not survive the kiln, which I can’t fully blame on the instructor but I partially can because I had my piece exactly how I wanted it by she made me go back and “fix it”, which I then made too thin and apparently broke in the kiln. When it retrieved it, she said “ you can probably super glue it together”, even though it was in tiny pieces. If that was the case, then she would have super-glued it.

I understand that the price has to be higher here because we’re so small, but I need for the instruction to be better to compensate for such a high price. I could tell that everyone in the group, not just my small party, was getting annoyed with her because she made them start over even though their pieces were fine (but I guess not perfect in her eyes)

I would try this class again if their organization skills improve and their instruction skills improve. Would love to be able to at least paint the one piece, or create more than 1 piece.
