Always a Great Time. Friendly atmosphere. The island where the fest takes place is covered by beautiful shade old growth Oak trees ? and since it's an island in the middle of the Kankakee River, it's kept cooler by adjacent flowing water. The food court usually has many different options for everyone's pallet. Many, many booths set up with a variety of items for sale. Ample parking along north side of river and adjacent lots. Usually a $3 cover charge to help with fest costs. Newer strong steel footbridge from parking area to island. The far eastern end of island is where the Classic Car show is located.

Definately not handicap friendly, food wa terribly overpriced which probably means the booths were too.

I remember growing up in Momence and going to the Gladiolus Festival every Summer. Seems like it was held the first week in August and began to "wrap up" our Summer vacation from school. Of course back then (the early 1970s), we didn't go back to school until after the Labor Day. I remember throwing candy from the back of a convertible that was pulling the float for the stock yard where my father worked.

Family has always loved it, and go every year. But organizers don't add, or improve the quality of the festival. And instead of getting bigger it is getting smaller. And the cost doesn't match the quality of fun for the family.

I have never been to the Gladiolus Festival but do intend to visit this year. I am not going as a vendor because I don't think I can make rent at this event. If the turnout is grand In will definitely participate next year.
