First time going to see a show at MOH. One of my sons recently graduated college and saw the Opera House had the musical Sweeney Todd production. He asked to go as a gift.
The musical from start to finish was, WOW!
The last show we had seen was in a different state and it was the opera, Mary Queen of Scots. This Sweeney Todd musical was up there for us, with performances and music alike! The lead actors, Ken and Jennifer were a joy to watch! The other actors held their own, even the younger less experienced ones.
We're not sure if we ever want to go back to see another performance at MOH, because we feel this musical could not match anything else we would see there.
Bravo! ?

One thing that bothered me was the chairs. They are small, school auditorium chairs. I know the Opera House is old, but the chairs killed my back.

Amazing space. The beauty in this place is simply breathtaking. They are renovating the Opera House. So bare with them. This was a dress rehearsal I got to sneak in and watch. I loved it. The old creaky floors, the acoustics, and fellowship with old friends was so fun. We love this little staple of Monticello!

Saw "Ain't Misbehaving " musical play. Very entertaining but program guide needs more detail. The Intermission was a big surprise . Needs halftime entertaining show

Attended the last showing of Sweeney Todd which was a sold out show, so recommend buying tickets in advance. The characters were well cast and the play sets were very well done. There was also a live orchestra which was a welcome surprise and Bloody Mary’s at the bar with all the garnishes. The performance was extremely entertaining and was 3 hours long with the intermission.
Only negative is how small the space is in the seating. I'm 6' and my knees were firmly planted in the seats in front of me. Considering this theater was built in 1890 it's not surprising, just be aware of that if you come.

Saturday evening Rock and Roll Tribute.

World Champion Elvis Tribute Artist Cote Deonath brought us a spring concert for all 3 Eras of Elvis in one show. From the 1950s to the 68 Comeback Special To the Glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, we enjoyed watching and grooving to, what's gonna happen next!

We had the downstairs view instead of upstairs. The seating was uncomfortable and they didn’t think that fans or air conditioning was needed. We ended up leaving after the 1st take. Cast did a good job.

Absolutely love this place. I like that it’s older and still has some original stuff in it. I really have enjoyed every performance I have seen here. Everyone is super friendly and I will keep coming back!
