Mother Pupper has helped our socially anxious puppy transform into a confident dog. He loves it there. I really recommend any service they have but especially the enrichment. It set him up to be ready for daycare. He also went to their puppy social class on Saturdays, he learned so much and it was adorable. Kind, smart, professional people. I can’t recommend more.

Our rescue dog, Elliot started at Mother Pupper several weeks ago. We started with the Enrichment group and she gained more confidence and better recall. She was able to join the regular daycare and enjoys her time there tremendously, playing with friends, trying new activities and learning to settle with the group. I also enjoy seeing highlights from the day on their Instagram page! The trainers are all very skilled at understanding the needs of the dogs and how to challenge them to learn new things. We are very pleased with having our dog at Mother Pupper!

I searched for months for the perfect place to leave my dog. He was anxious, didn’t trust humans or dogs. A typical doggie daycare was too unstructured for him. I would get calls to leave work bc he was crying in a corner. Then I found mother Pupper. He started in their Saturday enrichment classes and learned the “go to bed” command VERY helpful. Now he looks forward to when I drop him off and is over all more calm and friendly. I highly recommend Mother Pupper for small dogs who can’t stay home alone. 😘

I constantly brag about this place to everyone I know! I can’t believe such a fantastic daycare exists here in Portland. The team is so unbelievably accommodating and caring with my pup Figgie. She has gained so much from attending this daycare where they focus on training and appropriate play. I get nervous leaving my pup at other facilities where it can be a free for all with the pups - I know they watch over my dog here and they truly care! Also, shout out to Allison who has been incredible! Mother Pupper is truly the best and worth the price for the piece of mind I get while at work! I also love the daily updates they post on instagram so I can see what my pup is up to throughout the day. They also do a monthly photo of your pup in a different outfit each time… it’s amazing!!

Top recommendation, by far! We started taking our labradoodle to puppy classes as soon as she was old enough & were delighted with the care the staff take with all of the pups. She then graduated to Saturday enrichment class and now attends that & daycare twice a week..and loves it all!! They have helped her gain confidence & she’s learned to play well with dogs large & small. She’s learned to self-regulate (like take breaks when she needs it) and ..has a newfound love of puzzles.
The staff communication is exceptional with each other & with us. We live in SW -it’s a trek we’re delighted to make because of the amazing care & attention fostered here.

The sheer joy my dog, Pente, has when running from the entrance to the back says it all. She absolutely loves her days at Mother Pupper and I love checking their great social media posts to see what she is up to.

We started in the puppy play group, did a few enrichment classes, and now go to weekly day care. All great experiences. She will soon attend the owner’s boarding option on their property in Washington, only available for MP attendees.

I credit the amazing handlers at MP for working so diligently with Pente on her social skills - including both dog-dog interactions and appropriate settling around other dogs. I appreciate the small play groups and nap times, ensuring her experience is not an over stimulated free for all.

My criticism, which does not negate my 5 star review, is around scheduling and drop off/pick up times. While their stable play groups are part of what makes MP special, I have very unstable and unpredictable scheduling as a medical professional. Having flexibility on attendance days and earlier drop off/pick up availability, would make my life easier and allow her to attend more frequently. Regardless, Pente and I love MP so much we make it work!

They rejected my dog because they don't have any days with non-anxious dogs

After my screening they told me my very happy and playful dog that has passed every screening in her life (6 screenings, 4 in Portland, 2 in Denver.) who had fun and behaved well wasn't welcome because they're "very selective"and the dogs they're currently seeing would "get offended" so I should go somewhere else. Even though they had nothing negative to say about my dog.

In fact they only had positive things to say about her. The whole interaction was very "it's not you, it's me"

If you're so selective how did you end up with anxious dogs every day of the week? If you're specifically rehabilitating anxious dogs shouldn't you advertise that somewhere? If you were full, why did you accept my screening request? If she was the problem, why did you have no incidents to report to me?

I'm left having to accept that this business had some sort of personal problem with me since the logic doesn't work out any other way I slice it.

Edit: Thank you for your reply but I will be leaving my review up. Every other facility has seen the same behavior and acknowledged that that is not aggression, but her communicating her boundaries, especially in a brand new group that she has never met before. That behavior, especially decreasing within such a short interaction, shows that she is stating her boundary initially and as she grows more comfortable and communicates with the other dogs in the group, she is more friendly and playful and comes out of her shell. She has spent multiple years at a local daycare that sadly had to close, and we actually asked the owner and trainer about this behavior specifically and she indicated that not all dogs are the same and many want a bit of a boundary at first and it was completely normal and expected. She gave us multiple materials verifying that information as well. Considering that, you can imagine our frustration at suddenly being told that this is a problem especially by a facility that prides itself on training and enrichment. Rhea actually stopped this behavior entirely after the first or second visit to every daycare she’s attended, because she knew the environment and dogs there and never caused or had any tiffs.

We did look at the Enrichment Group initially and it’s about double the cost for half the amount of time at on a day of the week that we could not commit to consistently (which your philosophy online said wasn’t great to switch so much), which is why we opted for daycare screening.

We understand that you are looking out for the dogs already currently in your care but hope that in the future, you are able to consider a larger diversity of personalities in your group.

We love the Mother Pupper team! We started in their puppy social and enrichment classes, then eventually graduated to weekly day care. Our puppy is high energy and was nervous around other dogs in the early days, but loved seeing her social skills and recall out of play develop after just a few weeks.
