Very cool historical site. Has lots of ghost stories and paranormal activity. Still a family friendly place with great guides. My family and I sat with Bear and he gave us a full run down on the history. We got to explore the entire house at our own pace. We also explored the property outside and learned a lot about the properties location on lay lines, under water caves and tunnels.

It is such a unique house. Mike was very knowledgeable about the families, the house, and grounds. The furnishings, pictures, glass, and silver give you a feel of life in the 1800's. What do you see in the last picture? For a $5 donation, it was worth seeing.

Highly recommend for folks interested in history, architecture and the paranormal. Our tour guide provided us with a 15 minute history talk and then we toured the home (all 3 floors) on our own. Saw pictures that people took of apparitions so take lots of pictures!! We also walked the grounds and saw the outdoor summer kitchen, the family plot and the slave cemeteries. Beautiful grounds and not busy at all. $5 donation per person. Well worth it.

Octagon Hall Museum is an interesting location to see a bit of Civil War history. The building itself is cool for its architecture and the Mason history that goes along with. The tour guide who gives the history of the house and the grounds and Bowling Green at the time was knowledgeable and gave a good story. A film guy coming to shoot some paranormal activity was onsite during my visit so that too was cool. The collection inside is a bit hodge podge for my taste but are donated period pieces from all kinds of confederate groups and friendlies. The slave imagery in the basement is laughable at the lack of trying with the mannequins. With that said, the grounds are walkable and the enslaved people cemetery is well kept.. but not as kept as the two confederate soldiers who died on the property. At any rate, it's history so take it for what it is. And see if any tortured souls show up in your photos.

I absolutely loved the self-guided tour of this beautiful antebellum home. Excellent price for a tour ($5) and very friendly volunteer staff provided history and insights about the property. I am pleased to see the home has been kept up with original furniture and period-correct decór. I do feel that focus could be shifted more towards the architecture and historical relevance of the plantation, instead of the ‘paranormal’ aspect, but I understand that generating demand is important.

Very interesting place. Walking outside on the property was very relaxing and calm. It's so pretty. Inside, there are definitely some odd feelings but very interesting things to see. I would recommend stopping in to anyone who drives through Franklin. They also do novice hunts for $50 a person if you're into that sort of thing. I'd call before going to see what days they are.
