My cat needed a part of her tail amputated, and they assisted with bandage and suture removal. They are amazing. You can tell everyone there loves working with animals. Thank you to everyone that helped Eris get back to 100 percent ♡

Wonderful !!! Best vet and staff ever !!! My peanut was very ill. I tried all the at home remedies to fix her condition , but nothing worked. After 24 hours of not eating or drinking and vomiting I called them . They told me over the phone what was wrong and allowed me to bring her in the next morning. She needed emergency surgery. Long story short she made it through 🙏🏼 The vet came in the waiting area sat down next to me and thoroughly explained everything !! I highly endorse, if you love your pet and want to save money this is the place to go !!! Amazing !!!

Our cats Sebastian&Orion were just there for some treatments.
Orion doesn't like shots!
It took 3 people to give him a shot but they got it done.
Overall experience...
We really enjoy the kindness from the employees& knowledge from the veterinarian.
Thank you again.
P.S.
Orion is at the top.
Sebastian is at the bottom.

They helped me when no one else would when I found a sick kitten. Got me in immediately, kept the kitten overnight, antibiotics, fluids, etc. They were professional, understanding, and could have given me a very expensive bill considering it was an emergency visit. They did not. I couldnt believe the difference in not only the pricing, but the way i was treated. They're actually there for the animals best interest, not for a paycheck. Great doctor, great staff. We need more like them!!!

PLEASE READ AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF...

We took our 9 month old cat in for an exam on 7/27/24 @ 4pm for discolored claws, decreased appetite, recent weight loss and anisocoria (one dilated pupil). The vet said that it was a neurological issue and a nail infection and that she must've "bumped her head". She gave us a Betadine solution to soak her paws in twice a day and that was it. The vet DID NOT weigh her, look in her eyes or ears with any instruments or perform any tests/diagnostics of any kind. She DID NOT even discuss any possible ones with us or refer us to a specialist. NO FLUIDS FOR DEHYDRATION GIVEN.

At about 2:30 am the next morning she began circling periodically. As the day went on it became more frequent and she became less stable. We ended up going to the U of I Small Animal Clinic ER in Urbana...THEY WEIGHED HER, DID BLOODWORK, ADMINISTERED AN IV FOR HYDRATION ETC. AND DISCUSSED WHAT COULD BE DONE (or not done)......ONE OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR THE CONDITION WAS THE POSSIBILITY OF A FUNGAL INFECTION IN THE NAIL(S) -which they said if bad enough could be causing the neurological symptoms and causing cerebellum brain inflammation/swelling which would explain the symptoms (not from a "bump on the head." They gave an internal antibiotic as well, but sadly given time factors for a positive prognosis by this time and given the state she was now in, we ultimately had to make the humane decision to euthanize and give her peace.

We will never know if the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital vet, if she would have done her due diligence on Fri. if the outcome would've been different. She betrayed our trust and GRAVELY FAILED us as our vet and our pet paid the ultimate price.... as well as our family.

We called her and discussed everything with the Ottawa vet on 7/29/24 (Mon). and she wouldn't own ANY OF IT!! It would've been one thing if she would've done everything she could've and discussed treatments, tests and prognosis, but to do nothing after we detailed all our concerns to her is reprehensible and negligent and she shouldn't be in practice giving this type of "care" in our opinion.

Decide for yourself if this level of care and expertise from the vet here is what you want for yourself, but more importantly your pet because ultimately your pet's life, may one day, be in HER hands... literally.

DONT EVER take your animal there for an emergency they killed my dog and tried lying about it over the phone. I took my dog there as an emergency all they did was give him a pain shot they said they were going to take her as an emergency they told me they will call me to come get her before they closed they never did cause they didn’t check my dog at all. I never gave my permission to keep my dog over night they were going to call me when they fixed her I called all the way up to closing time they still said they will call me and they did not I called the next morning and the receptionist went to check on her and told me she was resting but within 5 minutes the dr called me back and said she passed overnight but they never checked or saved her life as an emergency cause there were other ones also and I was the 2nd person there with my dog for an emergency they did nothing didn’t check her out or anything they kept her in a kennel all night and all she got was that one pain shot. So I asked to have her creamated and they said fine but it was $190 to get her creamated I went and borrowed the money cause I’m low income they then told me cause they kept her all night without my permission so I had to pay another $189 and I said I didn’t approve them to keep her all night and they didn’t even try to help her and when I took her in that was a major emergency and they let her die and now they put the $189 in collections and which put my credit down 49points so as I said NEVER take your pet there cause they don’t try to even save them! Plus it smells really bad there and they have sick cats all over the office.

First off, I will never step foot in this place again nor would I EVER recommend them. Back in the end of June, I adopted a kitten. I went and paid his adoption fee but wasn't able to pick him up until July 5th. They agreed to hold him. When I went in right at 8am on July 5th, they told me that the kitten I paid for and adopted 'didn't make it' and offered me his brother. Being shocked, I didn't have much to say at the moment, but I took the brother and left. I left without any paper work, just a kitten. After thinking about it and discussing it further with others, I figured that they had probably just accidentally adopted out the kitten I originally paid for on accident. The kitten I ended up with is wonderful and I figure, everything happens for a reason, so I moved on. But if a kitten that someone already paid for dies, you would think that the vet office would have a little decency to call the person and let them know.
Fast forward to now, November 9th.. I scheduled my cats neuter for Nov. 8th. Although I had corrected the staff a few times of his name change, they continued to call him by the 'deceased' cats name that was on my record for them. When I first walked in, the two workers, a male and female, did not make me feel comfortable with leaving my cat there for the day and over night. They just seemed odd and unprofessional. I have spent a few years doing dog rescue, and have been in and out of numerous vet offices throughout the midwest so I have a bit of knowledge and experience when it comes to vet clinics.
The staff referred to my cat, who was there to get his neuter, as a she, multiple times. When I picked him up and got him home, I noticed that they had cut his nails INCREDIBLY SHORT. I have never ever seen a cats nails cut so short. There's practically nothing there.
The ONLY two things I gave them consent to do to my cat was the neuter and microchip.

This clinic also had ELEVEN (11) front office cats just roaming around the front area. The place reeks of urine and feces and is just disgusting.

My pets are my children and I am incredibly unhappy with my experience at the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital.
