I always love coming to this theatre! The shows are great and so are the staff and performers. It is a smaller stage which makes for a more intimate experience.

The production of Paradise Blue was moving, thought-provoking, entertaining, and sometimes intense. I expect nothing less from Lou Bellamy and the incredible actors he works with. Bravo!!

There isn't enough black theater (or television or film, etc., etc...). But at least we have this fabulous little theater that features the most beautiful, unique and thought provoking plays with primarily African American actors and crew/personnel.
Never a bad experience. So grateful for the penumbra!

Wonderful place. My first visit. Parking is easy. Great prices. Helpful staff. I will return in the future. Side note... the concession stand only accepts cash.

Much more sophisticated than the last time I went! I liked the less sophisticated approach better. Thia seemed more generic. But the narrator was fabulous! As were the female singers.

Fabulous showing of Black Nativity. It’s been a staple for better than 30 years and hasn’t lost its power. The theater itself is amazing and is very intimate.

The iconic Penumbra Theatre which highlights human condition through the African American experience . This is one of the best theatres in the state if not the country. I recently saw the play "Wine in the Wilderness" and it was spectacular as it showcases Black women's identity from multiple perspectives while grappling with class and patriarchy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the coziness of this theatre. I haven’t seen a play in years and tonight I got witness the talent of Cycerli Ash as well as the rest of the Phenomenal cast of What I Learned in Paris!!!
