Response to owner:
I declined to go back, because it wasn’t worth my time. How was I to know he was well into extreme anemia and possible disease? Leo was in your possession since July per your Facebook. I’ve seen you are cleaning your enclosures and snakes, ABOUT TIME! You are an awful person for handling "business" this way. Gaslighting customers will never make you loved in the business world.

As per the most recent reviews of this establishment from friends of mine, who have been here for me through the process of owning a Ball Python for the first time (they have owned snakes for a quite a bit of time and share my grief), this business needs A LOT of re-work. As a first time owner of a snake, you would presume the place you buy the snake from takes care of them (primarily their health above all else) prior to selling them to you. I was a fool by not reading the reviews of this business before purchasing, but it is a lesson learned.

My banana pastel Ball Python I bought (I named him Leo) from Pipsqueek Pets, for $249.00, died just before this afternoon today. I'd like to mention he was housed with 3 other Ball Pythons (they were a bit bigger than him) in a tiny enclosure prior to purchase. The day I purchased him, I was told to feed him every 5-7 days because he was a juvenile. The same day of purchase, one female employee stated he hadn't been fed since, "last Tuesday," which would have been roughly 9 days since he had a feeding. I was advised by the owner that he needed to eat the next day, for which I bought a live mouse to do so (I was told he has only ever eaten live; therefore, I bought a live mouse). Leo was not keen on eating the day after purchasing, just as he wasn't until he passed. I didn't think it was an issue at the time, as I researched a bunch of topics regarding Ball Python feedings that stated these snakes can go weeks without a meal sometimes. The lid I bought for the 20 gallon tank I bought from this business did not fit, so I went back and inquired for the right-fitting lid. I was given a used, dirty lid (which I cleaned and it ended up fitting appropriately), with no attempt by the employees to refund or discount my previous purchase of the new lid.

For the few days I had him, Leo was super chill and never struck at me when handling, which from what I've read isn't really common from juvenile snakes. Yesterday (Sunday) morning I went to check on Leo, where I observed SEVERAL bugs (after researching, I concluded they were snake mites) crawling around on him. I immediately took action by soaking Leo in warm water for 30 minutes to drown the mites, which produced well over 30 mites floating in the water dead. I had to physically pick the remaining mites off of him, which was time consuming in itself. Leo was infested and had been for a long while, because there is absolutely no physical way he could have JUST gotten this many mites by being in my care for under 3 days. I promptly threw away his moss hide and mulch substrate I had bought from this store, as well as cleaned his entire tank thoroughly, based off of researching the proper way of dealing with snake mites. These mites, if left untreated for a period of time, can cause death in snakes.

I buried Leo in my backyard after finding him limp and not breathing this late morning. I am genuinely upset that my first time owning a Ball Python has gone this route. I was excited to watch him grow and live a happy, healthy life with me. As I said before, this is a lesson learned, but I am ultimately disappointed with this business for selling me a dying snake. I've gone to the store today to rectify this issue with the owner (who was not there) and was greeted by the aforementioned female employee, who showed ZERO empathy, nor proper customer service, towards me regarding my now deceased snake I bought from this store.

Bottom line, I would not shop at this store for your pet needs until their animals are properly looked after. My concern isn't a refund. My concerns are that these animals (not just their snakes) are taken care of appropriately.

Edit in response to owner: It is unbelievable how the owner and the employees take 0 accountability for their animals and how awful their customer service is even IN PERSON. It is never their fault. My friend and I both went into the store after I wrote this review to rectify this situation and the employee literally asked us if we had the dead snake with us and asked incriminating questions about what my friend did wrong to kill it. Complete lack of empathy and inappropriate. I asked, “We have to dig up the dead snake that she buried for you?” The employee didn’t even give condolences, just kept saying she can’t do anything for us and to wait for the owner tomorrow and couldn’t call the owner because the owner was “busy” but you have enough time to respond to my review an hour later about why we’re in the wrong. Are we supposed to bring a decomposing snake? By the way, she found the mites on Sunday when you were closed and it just died THIS MORNING so tell me when we were supposed to call your store. And tell me why the snake was infested with 30 or more mites within 3 days with all supplies, INCLUDING YOUR SNAKE, bought from your store. Y'all need to be shut down.

My friend and I went to check out this pet store 3 days ago because she was interested in buying a ball python. Yes, the place smelled, but I gave benefit of the doubt because animals can be stinky… but, every other individually owned pet store I’ve been to didn’t smell like this. The owner herself recommended every single tank and item for her to buy so she could take her snake home the same day. First of all, we bring all of the items and the snake home, and they gave her the wrong sized tank lid. She goes back to get the right sized one and instead they give her a nasty old one she has to clean on her own; no refund or discount. Then the next day she found mites on her snake and had to throw out AND clean everything she just bought to take care of that problem. The mites had to come either from their snake enclosures in that pet store or the substrate and other items that the owner praised and told my friend to buy. Now today her snake is dead after all that money she dropped. You can’t tell me their animals are “healthy and spoiled”. Do not go here, find somewhere else to give your money and time. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Never open when it should be online says open store hours say they should be open but not opened and no reason of why, prices are higher than other stores in the area

** added due to response.. I understand life happens as do anyone else… a simple sign on the door to inform customers that EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE AND OWNER WAS SICK. And were unable to open the store would have been great… someone had to go there to tend to the animals or did they not get the care they should be provided

This hasn’t been the only time that I have been there and it was closed when it should be open..

I went to buy fish for my little aquarium. I saw a few dead fish in different tanks but I know they can die without notice. The young man who helped me was pleasant and kind.

I moved here not too long ago and needed feeders for my snake. I found this place because it was the only one i found that had feeders at the moment. I’ve been coming here for a while now before finding a different pet shop that sells feeders. I’m so happy that I no longer have to step foot in Pipsqueeks pets because every time I went my heart broke for the animals in their care. I always took a look around the store at all the exotic animals and 99% of the time they’re all malnourished, sickly & on death’s bed. The leopard geckos look like they haven’t eaten in weeks. The chameleon in their care is too big for its cage and is unable to be in his natural tree environment because the one branch in there isn’t stable enough for him so he sits on the tank floor, which is unnatural. The snakes are all kept together and too thin and seem lethargic. I wouldn’t purchase anything from them unless you’d like to see your pet dead in days, if not, hours. The rodents are all overcrowded, including their feeders. I hated feeding my snake them because they all looked sick and disgusting and were constantly sneezing. I love reptiles and it just pains me to see so many that aren’t cared for in one spot. The bad reviews on their page are for good reason and they need to be shut down. Prices are overwhelmingly high for no reason. I’ve seen so many dead geckos in their tanks. One of them being the crested gecko up by the front counter that seemed to have died weeks ago and still not removed from the tank. There were still a few crickets in there which means they’ve been feeding crickets to a dead crestie, although I’m unsure how they could’ve missed that. The poor animals in there need help. If you plan on purchasing from them, do it knowing you’re going to need to put extra care into them in hopes of possibly keeping them alive. Just recently started going to the pet supermarket near me because I found out they sold feeders. A quick look around the store and their animals look 100x healthier than the ones I’ve seen in pipsqueaks.
