I always have a great time at Prytania Theatre! I love the timeless, classic vibe of watching a film at a single-screen theatre. Their ticket prices are fair, with special weekly discounts and events, and it is a very clean, comfortable theatre. Their popcorn is also delicious, and on top of showing films, they also have a live performance of rocky horror every month. I truly enjoy supporting this longstanding New Orleans institution.

Went to see top gun maverick. $26 for two people at the 4pm show. A 12oz can of AHA is $4 the zebra popcorn is $9. They show 1 movie at a time. Has an upstairs balcony. The seats are not made for hippy people. No one wore mask. Seats are a little elevated so if someone tall sits in front of you, you might not be cable to see. Sound is good and picture is good. A nice place to get away without the crowd. Bathroom is pretty small but big enough to hold 3 people comfortably.

Such a cute theater. The maintained the vintage look but updated with a fantastic sound system. It is also in a very nice part of the city so it felt safer coming out of the movie once it was getting late.

Always enjoy seeing shows at the Prytania. Such a beautiful, historic theater with wonderful staff and excellent snack selection. To me, this is the best theater in the area.

While I love the Prytania and use it as my "go to" theater, lately, the popcorn has been average at best. Sometimes it tastes like it was made a day earlier. I also agree with the other review that the butter oil does not have a pleasant taste.
Popcorn is such a big part of the movie experience. I hope management sees this and will make some changes. Having salt on the counter or some sort of spice would be nice too.
The recent renovations are a nice touch!

Went here for a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show with a shadow cast and everything was awesome. The theater was very clean (despite us throwing rice and bread and cards and toilet paper) and the staff were all very kind and patient. The theater is a little hidden gem on prytania street that had been standing for over 100 years. It's small but not well known so it should never be too busy. Absolutely recommend checking it out.
