I had to take a couple of dogs there that I couldn't have because I had heart surgery and they stayed in my home with me.
My place is small so I couldn't handle the stress of getting up and down to let them out at night and they would bark at neighbors late at night.
I told them let me know if nobody wants them and I'll make other arrangements.
Thank God they went to good homes.
It broke my heart.
But yeah this is a fine place with good workers.
And a fine place to adopt from.
Please ask her before buying one there were so many beautiful dogs and cats there.
Please help those animals all you can.

I would not give this a star at all. Why are there no pictures of cats on webpage? I have never seen a cats picture listed in a years time. Why you are allegedly euthanizing all the cats that come in? Why are rescues not told before this so they have a chance to get out? I was told directly by the Judge of this county that David cleans the whole shelter in 3 hours! How? I volunteer at a rescue and it takes me longer than that to do the cats properly. Why does no one answer the phone? Why are there no volunteers? I have never been to a shelter with no volunteers and one person running the entire shelter. Something is seriously wrong with this picture.
The cats have no litter boxes and are sitting on wire bottom cages. The kittens legs are falling thru the grates. The door is left open in freezing temperatures. Tiny kittens that need canned food or possibly bottle fed are just given hard kibble and if they spill the bowl it all falls through the wire floor.
The KY statute is healthy and safe environment which is not the case at this shelter.

The cats brought to this shelter are not given litter boxes or bedding even though these items are donated and readily available. The Manager makes no attempts to get them adopted or rescued. He kills them within days of intake. The reason given is that by law the shelter is only required to supply food, water, and shelter. Any reasonable, decent human being would WANT to do the right thing for animals despite that ridiculous law. Why would anyone want to run a shelter if the purpose isn’t to properly care for the animals with the GOAL of getting them adopted?!! Some of the dogs make it out because rescues are aware of the dire situation there but some owner surrenders are killed within hours of entering the shelter. They aren’t even given a chance at life!!! This isn’t a shelter. It’s a death trap. It is WAY past time for major changes to take place, but the powers that be REFUSE to listen to the rescue community and do what’s right!!!!

I drove an hour and a half to visit this shelter. Their website and sign both say that the shelter closes at 4. When I got here well before 4 the place was locked up and no one to be found.

I have adopted a few dogs from here. Their adoption fees are so reasonable that it amazes me that they don't all get adopted. I highly encourage considering adopting one of their dogs because they're a small facility with limited space and funding, so these dogs do have a limited time they're kept. The kennels are kept clean, but the dogs have very little human contact or shelter since the cages are outside, where the dogs are kept year-round. Call ahead because this is basically a one-man operation. I think does the best he can with the facility and funding he has to work with, but hours are limited.

I found our girl in a staved like state, when I arrived I noticed there were no food or water in any of the kennels. I adopted her and brought her home only to realize not only did she seem starved but also that she had ticks all over her, not only that, she goes crazy if you try to close a door on her or put her in a kennel as if they kept her confide 24/7.

David really keeps the place clean and animals taking care of. I also picked up a red nose pitbull puppy while I was there at a great price. Here are pictures of her, her name is China rain. And she really enjoys her new sister Jade Leigh
