We got Harrie (Harriet) from Baking out Loud rescue in February 2024 when she was 8 months old. She was born in a kennel and lacked social skills and was very afraid of people and other dogs. She also was not leashed trained and would jump on us and others after she got to know them. After trying to correct some of her behaviors, we decided to hire a trainer. One of our neighbors knew of an excellent local trainer, Heather Morris. After contacting her and meeting her, we decided to hire her, since we were getting ready to go to North Carolina for the summer and wanted Harrie to interact with people and other dogs. Since we hike almost daily, we also wanted her not to pull on her leash. Heather met with Harrie and us once a week for 5 weeks and during that time, Heather was able to correct all of the negative behaviors and provide my wife and I the tools we needed to reinforce the positive and desired behavior. Since being in North Carolina, we have enjoyed our hikes and running with her and she is no longer shy of others dogs and humans. We are eternally grateful Heather for helping us with Harrie. We have told all our neighbors with dogs that if you want a highly skilled professional trainer then Heather is your choice. We are so happy with the results

I adopted a rescue dog in 2023 that I knew was smart and willing, but he was just young and inexperienced in all ways. I felt that a good way for us two to bond and to set some rules down would be for us to enroll in a dog - training class. Because my boy was so "green" we really needed to start from scratch and learn all the basics!

As a long-time customer of St Petersbark, I was thrilled to find out that they were starting to offer dog/puppy-training classes at their location on Central. I looked into the training and the trainer (Heather Morris of St Pete Dog Works) and I loved her class offerings and the fact that she kept the sessions small and personal. She has an impressive training background and just "knows" dogs, so I really didn't have to look any further!! We enrolled in a 5-week Family Manners Dog Training class that covered the commands, leash training and more. We made friends with the other owners and their pups, and thanks to Heather's good guidance, graduated with a Canine Good Citizen award!!

Heather is a superb trainer. She just understands "DOG"!! She is the one in the room that all the dogs will go to, because she has that confidence and exudes that energy that the dogs want to gravitate towards. Her training is so extensive, she knows all the breeds, and she can tackle any type of issue you may be experiencing or want to understand. If one form of training doesn't work for your pup, she will offer a different solution. She is upbeat, positive and a delight to work with. I highly recommend her!

Heather's Urban Leash Manners classes were fun & so helpful for me & my small pooch. Classes were small and I always got personal help when I asked. Heather always had several practical techniques to try to find what worked best for me. It is really handy to have the written instructions to follow up as Milo & I are making progress on our walks.

My mini Aussie Teddy and I had a blast attending St Pete Dog Works 6-week puppy class. I love that the class was small (3 dogs in our class) and the puppies had a blast getting to know each other! Heather is very thorough and truly cares about creating a solid foundation for your puppy. Heather also came to my home to work on some sound aversion challenges Teddy has been having and we are implementing the skills she taught us each day now! We had four sessions with Heather to help us with our one year old dog’s high reactivity when someone comes to the door. She taught us how to have him “go to place” and stay until we release him, which we use for a variety of scenarios beyond just someone coming to the door. Heather also gave us little tips that have helped us enormously with annoying behaviors like possessiveness with bones, counter-surfing, jumping up to grab toys, etc. It’s amazing how small changes to our approach have greatly improved life with our dog. We’re extremely happy we hired St. Pete Dog Works. Highly recommend!

We completed Heather's 6-week puppy class after meeting her at the puppy play date she hosted at St. PetersBARK. As soon as we met her, we knew that we wanted to work with her more. Heather connected with our high-energy, impatient, and very stubborn mini aussie puppy immediately. Watching Heather work with our dog showed us that the problem was us, not the puppy, and inspired us and motivated us to follow Heather's lead to help our pup be a good dog. The 6-week class was awesome—our puppy is so much more well-behaved and fun to be around now. We learned so much and we all had FUN. The class was the highlight of our week and we all looked forward to it. We are excited to learn more from Heather in the future. We could not recommend her and classes enough!

Heather is a very skilled, down to earth and patient trainer. I have a 4 yr old Dalmatian with leash pulling behaviors and who doesn’t perform well with excessive stress. Heather assessed her behavior and is providing techniques that I can use in every day living. The training is correcting a long term learned behavior and strengthening our bond.
