The Star Theatre is an absolute treasure! From the moment you step inside, the history of this beautiful building surrounds you. The vintage architecture sets the tone for a memorable experience.

Inside, the theater is cozy and intimate. The seating retains its vintage charm while being surprisingly comfortable, and the acoustics are excellent for a building of this age.

The staff are warm and welcoming, and it’s clear they take pride in preserving this piece of the town’s heritage. The programming is a delightful mix of local productions, touring performances, and special events, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the Star Theatre offers more than just a show—it’s a step back in time and a chance to appreciate the arts in a truly unique setting. Highly recommend!

I have attended many of Star Theatre PA’s productions, including their Christmas and Easter shows, Steel Magnolias, Jack and the Beanstalk, and their current show Church Basement Ladies! The theatre experience is always fantastic—-amazing acoustics that showcase the musical and acting talents of the very talented and well-directed casts—-as well as beautiful sets, props, and costuming, great lighting and sound production!! Church Basement Ladies is the most hilarious musical comedy that I’ve ever seen, and I’m looking forward to seeing it again this upcoming Saturday!!

I just enjoyed a wonderful show, The Church Basement Ladies at this hidden gem of a theater in Mercersburg , PA . This historical theatre is very welcoming and the caliber of their theater is consistently high. This show boosts a great cast, musical direction, and production qualities. The front of the house is very friendly and helpful. The Star Theatre is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying quality family friendly theater. The Musser’s Kettle Corn is an added bonus.

Great production seats are small they do have some chairs in back you can ask sit in it's an old beautiful building done a great job restoring

WONDERFUL THEATRE! This is one of our favorite places to see shows! Incredible talent, beautiful sets and costumes, fantastic props, and impeccable sound and lighting. Every production I've seen has been professionally done and very entertaining! The owners and entire staff of the theatre are all wonderful, welcoming people who strive to ensure a great experience for every single person in the audience. I look forward to seeing all of their future productions!

AMAZING PRODUCTIONS!! I have had the pleasure of seeing each live performance at Star Theatre from their original Christmas and Easter shows to “Steel Magnolias” and their most recent children’s production of “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The lighting, sound, set pieces, and costumes are always incredible! It’s wonderful to see such professional productions being brought to the small town of Mercersburg.

RACIST OWNER! My son and I were in the area and stopped by to see "Jack and the Beanstalk", which was advertised to be a family-friendly show for all ages. My 3 year old was super excited and loved the show. As any child his age, he laughed and asked questions during the performance, but was not louder than other children in there. During intermission, owner came up to us and said that if my child "keeps going ", we would have to move further back (where my child wouldn't have been able to see the stage). I'm puzzled why he targeted us out of everyone one else. Perhaps because my child is biracial. The owner said that he was throwing off the performers, which made no sense. It seemed that he just wanted to pick on us. I did not move to the back and made it through the show.

The performers were great, however, intermission was longer than both halves of the show.

My child being so young and totally unaware of being singled out by racist owner, said he loved the show. He enjoyed himself. I, on the other hand, only enjoyed the first part (prior to the encounter with that owner).
