I had my dream wedding at Sweetwater Farms! If you are looking for a rustic one of a kind venue, Look no further! My whole day was like a dream, we got ready in the darling bridal studio (I am so obsessed with the Tiffany blue antique couch in there!) The groom’s room is so much fun too. The ceremony was outside just before sunset and the lighting was magical. They have a huge collection of antique chairs and beautiful wooden benches combined with canvas covered Haybales for guest seating. I loved having the horses so close and using the beautiful black-and-white one for our photos. The cocktail hour was so fun in there adorable western town which flows smoothly into the giant party barn for the reception. We brought in a taco caterer and had great meal, then danced the night away on the giant outdoor dance floor. The owner and coordinators were so wonderful to work with, there was no detail ever missed (these ladies know what they’re doing). I had a lot of fun planning everything with them. I had honestly looked at six other venues before making the best decision ever by choosing Sweetwater Farms!!

My daughter (age 7) did a week long camp during the summer. I was quite impressed with the work they did. She did riding, grooming, stall cleaning, and general horse housekeeping. I was impressed by the end of the week with how she could independently do these tasks. She seemed to bond well with her horse (Daisy). I also thought they did really well with the camp size (7 kids) and the ratio of staff to campers (they had 3 or 4 staff helping). Very nice camp.

This was one of the best wedding venues I have ever seen! There was so much attention to detail and everything was planned out perfectly. The staff were professional, easy to contact, and lovely to deal with. We consider them part of the family, they bent over backwards for us! Such a magical experience, beautiful wedding, and memorable day that I will never forget.

I have recommended Sweetwater Farms to all of my friends and family and have even taken some riding lessons there. Truly a family friendly stable that cares about their horses as well as their clients.

My daughter has been taking lessons at Sweetwater for several years. The trainers have been so good to her. She has gained so many skills, and her confidence has soared! My daughter has been a working student at the barn which allows her to gain leadership and teaching skills. The community is warm and welcoming. If there is an opportunity for my daughter to spend time at the barn, she will!

You hardly get to ride (for my "lessons") the trainers I kinda mean and they don't help you for what each rider needs

While the location is rustic and lovely, the owner/manager of this facility is rude and unprofessional. My son recently had his wedding at this location, We were warned by the wedding planner, who you are required to use if you have a wedding here, that the owner/manager can be very difficult to deal with. As warned, she lived up to her reputation. We did not realize she would be present throughout the wedding and reception riding around in her golf cart, arguing with our vendors, family and guests.

This would have been enough to cause anyone to issue a poor review. However, the day began with her yelling at our vendors as soon as they arrived. Five minutes after the ceremony, she showed up with her tractor to begin moving the benches away while we were taking photos. After a very loud discussion, she took her tractor and left. The rest of the evening consisted of unreasonable demands and dirty looks. The planner we hired to be there to keep the evening running smoothly was not there, but at another venue and we had to deal with her assistants whom we had never met before.

The greatest disappointment to the evening came when the wedding cake was served to our guests and it was systematically covered with termite dirt that was falling from the rafters. There is absolutely no way they should be taking peoples money to have an event here. With the behavior exhibited by the owner/manager, they obviously would prefer not to use their facility as a wedding venue and the condition of the barn should never be used as a dining facility. I am currently negotiating with the health department, Superior Court of San Diego, and the owner/manager of Sweetwater Farms.

The staff here are seriously lacking any kind of appreciation for student development and don't bother to actually "teach" the kids anything. My daughter fell off her horse accidentally during one session and was scared to trot. The staff basically declined to help her work through her fear because my daughter would get emotionally upset at the idea of trying to trot. They told me that they are unable to provide personal instruction during class and recommended we enroll in 1-on-1 instruction. The class sizes are super small (maybe four or five students maximum) so there is no reason for not being able to provide more personal instruction to a particular student who is struggling or fearful. I wouldn't sign my child up here again. They don't foster a positive learning environment.
