Haven't been in a while even before Covid. I'm glad they're performing again. Went to see an old friend perform as an excuse to check it out. Really glad I did. It's really a nice way to spend an evening, expand your horizons outside your box, and enjoy an economically entertaining alternative. The performers really enjoy what they do including those behind the scenes and its really a creative way of contributing and enhancing the community. I've learned that I do enjoy an occasional play one in a while and TAG is really a great option if you've never been. Oh, and the intermission treats they sell rock! Next time, I'm buying her out. Great job guys and gals and thank you for your creative contributions!

The Actors Group (TAG) is awesome! Has a really intimate kind of song that allows you to feel as if you're in your living room watching a live play. Really cool to see some actors in their element with a raw setting. They put on a lot of original plays and really seem to have a passion for the art. Highly recommend ?

Yesterday, June 02,2024 Our experience began by being escorted by the Personable Mr. Brad Powell for whom the theater is named for to our seats. What a delightful, personable stage and we were accomodated with seating in the very first row. So close that we could see the actors breathing it was awesome. Your concierge for the experience is a highly congenial exceptional actor who leads you through the " What and what nots to do "during the performance. He is very convincing and thoroughly entertaining.The stage/ crew support actors were excellent seeing the smooth transition of props , stages and ambience of each seen. So much so that our minds were led from one amazing character to another. " Jake and the Yellow Bench has a brillant cast of believable , quite entertaining ensemble of Leads. Lets start with the "spirited Lady who does a convincing , atagonizing elder relative / companion Bravo Ma'am wow you had us spellbound searching in our minds for a personnel Relative as forthgiving as she. SALAM..you portrayed an exceptional amount of realism and likeable nature to your character , the Lead Jake aka Jeffrey Terry Souza was poignant, vulnerable, likeable and quite funny. Being so close we were amazed at how he had super facial expressions , watery eyes and dreamscape projection to deliver his part with convincing , moving delight providing a talented wheel of emotion and compassion for the audience to relate to. Well done
" JAKE" I also enjoyed the ensemble Lady who was very good at seamlessly transporting from one to another support performer, the Landlord gent so good at being a busybody, proactive authority , well done you had us convinced ! We had three of our party never attend a theater performance before who were truly delighted with the combined efforts of your company . I In the wheelchair have attended theater prior to my health challenges and can say withthout hesitation Bravo and warmest aloha to Mr. Brad Powell, the Staff and especially Mr. Jeffrey Terry- "Jake" for a wonderful afternoon and fondest wishes for continued success.

TAG live performances at the Brad Powell Theatre are masterfully done in an intimate setting that has been recently refurbished. Each has been cast with superb actors, who are truly passionate about performing in live theatre, focusing on contemporary and thought-provoking issues. Each performance I've attended has been a wonderfully ephemeral experience. Parking is convenient and is validated. Not to be missed during intermission - Joyce's homemade treats.

We went there opening night to see "The Mountaintop." It was a 90 minute play...no intermission.
Two thespians had us riveted in our seats!! They were excellent!!
We enjoyed ourselves!! Several times I had tears in my eyes, because of the vivid images the actors portrayed.

The play pertained to the night before Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. was assassinated. It is one of the best plays TAG has sponsored!! The two actors should be nominated and receive The Best Actor and Best Actress awards.

I do not know how long the play will be at TAG, but it is a "must see!!"

I've got to give 5 big stars to TAG for their recent offerings of Edward Albee plays 'American Dream' and 'Zoo Story'. This little theatre does big work. In 'American Dream' the cast does excellent ensemble work. Some of the very best I've seen since moving to O'ahu from Los Angeles about a year ago. As a 30+ year veteran of the theatre and having seen some great productions of all sort of genre -- I have to say, that I found one of the best theatres on this island in TAG. "Zoo Story" offered up one of the best ever portrayals and interpretations of the play and the character of Jerry -- that I've ever seen done. In both plays, the directors were very aware of the pace and subtext in the material, and in particular in Zoo Story. wow. I thoroughly enjoyed an evening out at the theatre! Each time I go, I get inspired!

For years we have followed The Actors Group around Honolulu and are huge fans. They have settled in at the Dole Cannery on Iwilei Road in a sweet little intimate theater on the ground floor with free parking across the street at the movie theater building. I don't know how they attract so many amazing talented locals for their incredibly professional drama performances, but they continue to rival anything that we have seen in New York City.
