Sunday, July 21st.
A friend and I made our first visit to the Tara theater today, and I have no qualms in stating this is one of the best movie theaters that I've ever attended!
Good mantainance, clean floors, and such a clear love for cinema through its classic movie posters and portraits of actors and directors. The Art Deco architecture with that decoration alongside the old-school filmmaking equipment on display filled me with joy. There were few screening rooms, but this was more than compensated by the sizes of these rooms. Such great atmosphere for the 70mm screening of "2001" that my friend and I came for. There were more people for that screening than I expected, but I knew by the film's conclusion when the audience applauded that this theater just has that spell to attract movie buffs. I am so grateful that this theater reopened just last year, is still going, and I've gotten to have a great experience here.

IMO, anyone within Georgia who loves movies and supports the moviegoing experience should check out the Tara theater in NE Atlanta!

I have not been to this theater in many years. I was pleasantly surprised to find an updated decor and a feeling of nostalgia. I love that Tara is still open and supports independent artsy films. I went for a screening of the short film Don't Cry For Me which is an adaptation of the book with the same title written by Dr. Daniel Omotosho Black. Dr. Black is a great author and has been a professor at the HBCU Clark Atlanta University for 30 years. I'm looking forward to supporting more films at Tara theater especially the adaptations of Dr. Blacks books.

I’ve seen new releases here, as well as a few kick-ass screenings of older movies. I love this theater. Well maintained, comfortable, not overwhelming, and has more character than a typical large chain. You don’t miss out on any options worth noting, such as variety of concessions or price differences you’d get with the big guys. You also get to feel good about supporting a local institution. Long live the Tara

I tried to purchase tickets online at Tara's main their website. In order to create a new customer their system asked for my personal information, which included my full birthdate. I wanted to make sure I would not be bombarded with ads and upon clicking on Terms of Service and Privacy Policy documents, both links took me back to their website. Out of compliance and odd.

Update: I ended up buying the ticket in person and loved the retro vibe of the theater. I am raising my rating as I will be back!

Great theater with very friendly staff. Ticket and concession prices are reasonable as far as theaters go and the theaters are always clean. They also have the best sound system of any standard theater I’ve been to

The long awaited Tara Theater is back in business! Movies switch out on Fridays and show classics and indie films alike. Super quaint for an intimate movie night or night out with family.

The lobby is nicely done with comfy chairs to lounge in while admiring historic movie equipment from the early 1900s.

Pros: fun assortment of movies that are not in most theaters
Cons: movies change often- see them when you can!

The theater was very comfortable, which surprised me as it is older. I liked that it wasn’t super big. The parking is plentiful as the theater has parking and there is parking for Publix too. I LOVE art and foreign films so I like that it plays a lot of independent films.
