The Commons Theater is a jewel of the Alexandria area. The team invests into everyone involved in each show and they have created a community of both young and “less young” performers and their families. We started as audience members and now our family has participated in multiple productions, and it has overall been a very positive experience.

I have been taking my son to be in the kid/teen plays at this theater for 3 years now. I love the people there and the good they have done for my once shy young man. I'm starting to get into the adult plays now too! The only reason I give it 4 stars instead if 5 is because the cost of having my son in the play gets to be a lot. It's $50 to have him in including script and t-shirt, then $15 for a dvd, then I help with snacks and stuff for the after party, and we pay $10 per person for tickets to see him. It usually runs us $100 easily when he is in a play. But a sport would have costs too, so I think it is worth it.

Wow! What a gem..... first of all outstanding social distancing practices. Second, exellent show, well directed and masterfully casted. The set sucks you out of reality and places you in a beauty salon. Running water, ringing telephone, individual electric circuits, not just stage lighting. The Commons theater does exactly what theater is supposed to do. Take you convincingly out of realality and place you in another world for a couple of hours.

This is a small community theater, but the space is well utilized, the acoustics are great, and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you get a chance to see a performance there, you should take it.
