The Gator Den Motel - Dunnellon, Florida

We arrived at the hotel with high expectations, but from the first moment everything was a disaster. The receptionist was friendly, but that could not save our experience. Upon entering the room, I found dirty sheets, full of dog hair. The pillowcases were also in a deplorable state.

The bathroom… a real horror. The toilet was disgusting and full of dirt underneath. After speaking to reception, they changed me to another room, which, although a little better, still left a lot to be desired. The dirty pillows persisted, and the floor was so dirty that my children's feet turned black when walking barefoot. Unacceptable!

In addition, there was an excessive smell of chlorine, as if they were trying to hide the lack of cleanliness. The experience was so unpleasant that I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I paid $133.00 for one night and I feel ripped off. I will definitely complain to Booking.com. Do not be fooled!

This small, older motel has had all the rooms completely and very well redone. The room and bathroom were spotless with nice TV, small microwave,fridge, coffee maker, very comfy bed, plenty of pillows, as well as towels. Front desk and housekeeping staff were welcoming, and helpful. The motel is right on the river, with Blue Gator Restaurant,with river front tiki bar, and pontoon boat rentals next door, and a few doors down several other restaurants. Just across the street is a nice park and boat ramp. We liked The Gator Den so much, we booked for several nights in March!

We traveled from Ohio, the place I originally booked was less than suitable for a weeks stay, I called them the day we arrived and they made space for us immediately..the staff was absolutely AMAZING! While we were there our rental car battery died and they had a jump box, and helped us! Saved us the head ache of waiting for the rental company to call someone to come. The rooms were spotless, air conditioning worked great, the restaurant was also amazing.. great service and food. I would definitely recommend this place, and we will definitely stay here again when we visit.

Awesome, clean,really cute decor, beds were comfortable, pillows were plenty and nice, bathroom was super clean and updated, plenty of towels which were soft and free of stains . Air-condition filters were nice and clean.

Curtains could have been thicker , and there was no tissue box. key instead of a card, so remember to lock your door ,does not lock automatically.
Will definitely come back.

My husband and I stayed here for a birthday tubing trip. Here's a breakdown of our experience:||The Good:||The location is very convenient to Rainbow Springs. |The room was clean and spacious.|The shower was nice.|The mattress was comfortable.|The price was decent. ||The Bad:||The room reeked of bleach. The smell was overpowering. If you have chemical sensitives, do not book a room here. |The pillows were not the standard/queen ones shown in the website photos. They were small square throw pillows. |We couldn't figure out how to access any channels on the TV. No instructions were provided. ||The Ugly:||When we arrived at the motel, we had to go to the boat rental shack to check in. There was some merch available behind the counter, with the most prominent being a stack of "F_CK BIDEN" baseball caps. I understand that this is a conservative area of the state, and people certainly have a right to their opinions. That said, this is a place of business, and it seemed hostile/inappropriate. We did not feel welcome there.

What an awesome location and facilities! The rooms were clean and recently renovated and the overall customer service was great! Would definitely go back again. Went for a few days to do some kayaking on the river. Can launch your kayak right from the hotel's location, making it very convenient.

They got the market cornered. The fried Gator tail was cooked and trimmed perfectly. Tough to get perfect and it was. Hotels got new renovated rooms and in a great river front location. My girl said the king bed in the suite was defect and she fell fast asleep. We had a long day and a good meal that made the trip worth it.

Dont get your hopes up. It is well rated but it is still a 2-star hotel. The owner is nice and the room was renovated, but it was dirty.
