Such a small place seeves up some BIG flavors! The fish & shrimp platter, the fried oyster poboy w/onion rings and coleslaw were all amazing and delicious. Add a little extra swamp salt to everything (BAM!). I wanted to try their Jambalaya, but they were out of it. The beignets were delicious, but different than I had in NOLA. These were crispy, thin, airy puffs, not fluffy and doughy. I highly recommend this

There are lots of great restaurants in Pagosa Springs. This really isn’t one of them. I ordered red beans and rice. It arrived at the table as a lukewarm bowl of very watery beans with a tiny bit of white rice and a few pieces of sausage in it. On top of being cold, it was bland. My wife’s jambalaya was similarly disappointing. It was bland and nearly all rice, with just a little bit of meat to be found in the bowl. I’m pretty sure the chef here couldn’t find Louisiana on a map.

Service was good. Food was fast. We ordered the seafood gumbo with shrimp and crab meat. It had one spoonful of shrimp and crab together. You really couldn’t even see the crab. The rest was rice, okra, and some other vegetable.. not worth the time or money if you want meat with your dinner.

Great food and good prices. We had the feied shrimp and chix/sausage gumbo with a dessert of beignets. Just note that this is made-to-order, not fast food.

The food is the outstanding feature here at Lost Cajon. Remember though… everything is fried. On the other hand, all food is created by the two cooks coordinating all the slightly spicy dishes… Even the fries were hot! The service and atmosphere were fine. The New Orleans memorabilia was … nice but the place could use a little more “spice”. I guess I am asking for a more upbeat place with a little pizazz. Maybe too much for Pagosa Springs… so… blame it on me!

Came here for my dad’s bday. We asked if they had one candle because we forgot ours at the hotel. They came out with candles in beignets. Love this! The lady was so nice and the food was amazing! So much food for the cost! Love it.

We had an early dinner here, around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon. A few tables were occupied but the place was not crowded.

When we came in a lady was clearing a table. She told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. We sat next to the large photograph of Jackson Square. The lady was our server, and she was friendly and helpful.

My friend and I each ordered the Cat-touffee. That's fried catfish served over crawfish etouffee with rice. It was so good! The fish was fried perfectly, not greasy at all, so crisp on the outside, and almost melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. It wasn't tough at all. The etouffee was really good too. The portion was huge, three big strips of fish, and a generous serving of etouffee. My only complaint was that a few of the grains of rice were a bit hard. Minor, but also kind of jarring.

When we ordered, I told our server that we wanted to end the meal with an order of beignets. Unfortunately, the server didn't ask when we were ready for them, just brought them out before we had finished our main course. I wanted to eat the beignets when they were hot and at their peak, so we ended up eating desert before we finished the main part of our meal.

The beignets were different from the beignets I grew up with. The beignets I knew in Louisiana were soft and pillowy, full of cooked dough on the inside. These beignets were rather flat, quite crispy, and mostly empty on the inside.

Yes, I had a few disappointments, but overall this meal was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and both my friend and I left full and satisfied. It was a 4½ star experience, but I'm rounding up to 5 stars because our server was so nice and even offered to take our photo when she saw me taking photos of their sign.
