4-Star Review for The Tavares Dog House

Our first visit to The Tavares Dog House was a mix of highs and lows. Upon arriving, there was no clear direction on whether to wait or seat ourselves, and no one greeted us at the door. We ended up seating ourselves and waited for an employee to notice us. Eventually, Ryan came by to take our drink orders, though it seemed being a server wasn't his usual role. He mentioned he was new and wasn't very familiar with the menu.

Once we ordered, drinks came promptly, but it took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive, which wasn't baf even though the place wasn’t busy—just three dining tables and a few locals at the bar. The food itself was solid: the onion rings were crispy, the wings flavorful, and the burger, while only served well done, was still satisfying. It would’ve been nice to have the option for a medium-cooked burger.

The vibe picked up with karaoke and a cornhole setup, which added a fun touch to the atmosphere. Overall, it was an okay first experience. Despite a few service hiccups, we’ll definitely give this place another shot, as it seems to have potential.

A very informal american restaurant by lake Dora in Tavares. They have game tables, a nice bar and outside seating. It's dog friendly and kid friendly, but they do not have high chairs. It's a bit run down, but apparently people enjoy the music nights. We had the fried devil eggs, bacon wrapped jalapeños and the stuffed burgers, which were amazing, and a great Peach Crown Royal cocktail, recommended by the bar tender.
Our server was very nice. Not a place for children.

I visit Lake Dora a couple of times a year, and the only place I eat is The Dog House Sports Bar connected to the hotel Citrus on the lake; formerly, the Key West Resort Hotel. The waitresses and bartenders are fun, courteous, and do a great job taking care of their patrons. Payton, a female bartender, is the best and remembers all the crew by name when we return! The service, food, and bands are fantastic! This is a great place for a home away from home.

It was such a great experience! I wanted to plan a lunch with my boyfriend and saw The Tavares Dog House was pet friendly. We decided to make a day of it and brought our 8 month old chiweenie Bean (his first restaurant trip). Everyone was so sweet and our server was super attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed.

I was happy to see a little menu for Bean and got him some dog food. They also brought over an iced water bowl for him too. He's a shy pup but he almost devoured the entire meal. The owner also came by and spoiled Bean with bacon bits, which was so kind!

The food was AMAZING! We got an appetizer of the pretzel bites with beer cheese. The pretzel bites were deliciously soft, and the beer cheese was flavorful. My boyfriend got a chili dog, fries, and an extra side of mac and cheese. He loved all of it. I even got some bites in and that mac and cheese is delicious, and highly recommended by our server.

I got the avocado BLT salad. It came in a large dog bowl which was not only funny but actually made eating the salad easy. The portions of avocado, tomato, bacon, and the chicken I added as protein were plentiful and the perfect amount in my opinion. It was a very enjoyable and tasty salad that filled me up.

After we ate and paid, we spotted an air hocky game and played a round. It was cool seeing the different types of games both indoors and outdoors. We will absolutely be back!
