In general the food is very very good. I only gave 4 stars because my fajitas today were over cooked. The steak was grey all the way through, as you can see from my photo. And several of the onions and peppers were burned black. However, there is a fundamental good flavor to the meat even though it was over cooked. The other problem is the corn tortillas are really small street tortillas and there are only four. Not enough for the amount of meat provided. We have had the fajitas three times and two times they were much better than today.

The chimichangas are outstanding, we had the Quesadillas and they were very good too, as was the frittata. And the portions are large, good value for the cost.

Update - Next Visit
My wife and I had lunch here again and had a great experience. She had a half Fajita Salad, it was phenomenal and was totally full when she done. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tender. I had the Shrimp en Brochette. The shrimp was excellent, high recommend. But the vegetables were charred. Talked with the owner and he thinks they may change to cooking the vegetables on the flat top instead. If you don’t want the tortillas and vegetables order it as an appetizer. I highly recommend the shrimp: very plump, wrapped in bacon, stuffed with cheese, and a poblano pepper to add a little kick.

Went for drinks during happy hour. We were seated right away, served our drinks, and complimentary chips and salsa quickly. The margaritas were delicious and they made a skinny one for my friend too. The quacamole we ordered was very fresh and tasty! Our server, Armando, was attentive and cheerful.

Fajitas were very tasty, black beans were not, as they were in a cumin tomato base! Not a fan of the salsa and have to agree with another review I just read as there is way too much cumin in it as well, and tastes terrible. That’s all you can taste. Avocado salsa has too much lime, almost sour. Queso and chips were very good though, along with house margarita. We will try it again, hoping they eliminate the excess cumin and lime in sauces. They are new and trying to work out the kinks, so I think it’ll be amazing once they do!

This new restaurant is AMAZING. The food is not your typical TexMex—perfectly grilled carnitas—best we’ve ever had. Loads of home cooked tortilla chips with picante salsa. I had the Oaxaca salad with grilled chicken which was superb (and not bland)—pumpkin seeds, jimica, radishes—generous portion. The dressing was very tasty. Our waiter (Chuck) was super. Lots of individual care and checking in. This is a new place and definitely worth checking out. It will definitely be our go to for Mexican food. My only complaint is that bell peppers have no place in Mexican food. Finish up with the Kahlua crème brûlée and your day is complete. Oh, and the margarita was authentic.

Not too shabby for what’s really a soft opening. We came on a Tuesday afternoon during happy hour.

The good:
-food was tasty enough
-drinks were decent
-dessert was tasty
-service was good
-managers hovered around a lot to make sure everything was fine

What could be addressed:

-website is a mess. Dinner isn’t even listed (and dinner prices are not the same as lunch prices). Drinks and cocktails aren’t listed. Windsor Mill Tavern obviously uses the same template, and their site works, so I’d look into this.
-we came during happy hour, which wasn’t really obvious, and that menu was listed in the back of (what I consider) the drinks menu. No one even mentioned it to us.
-none of the food was hot enough. Queso came in a cast iron skillet that was at room temperature. Dip for the tacos wasn’t very hot, chicken in the cream chicken wasn’t very hot. There were roughly 10 tables taken around 5pm, so I don’t think the food should have been sitting out for long enough to cool off.

Bad: chips and salsa, while free, are subpar. It tasted like a bag of chips from a grocery store and like a jar of Costco salsa. It seems the restaurant is aiming to be a bit upscale Mexican (and if they aren’t, then having $45 fajitas is a bit weird), and I’d expect this to be better.

Good effort to start. We’ll be back in a little while to see if they managed to iron out the quirks. Being that same crew that runs Windsor Mill Tavern, I have really high hopes as they set the standard for extremely well executed bar food. At this point, everything could be just a bit better.

We love this place. Drinks are good. One of the best bars to pull up to in Windsor. Lots of good options for margaritas. The food is good and the atmosphere is cool. We’ve been here 4 or 5 times and we will definitely be back.

I was excited for this to open. I peeked in before it opened just to see the changes to the space. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat. The service was impeccable. The food is not your typical Mexican food with sides of refried beans and rice. This is much more upscale. Items such as surf and turf fajitas and birra tacos. The chips and salsa are good and I added queso and guacamole. They were delicious. My husband loved the birra tacos. Not many vegetarian options. Everything we ate was very good. I had a margarita. It was good and unlike other places there was tequila in it. It ran very smoothly for a Friday night and open just a week. Definitely ill be back.

Highly recommend. Food was amazing (chips/salsa, Fajitas, and Snapper). Staff was great. We came here on a crazy busy Saturday night during Windsor Wonderland with only about an hour to eat before going to a show. They seated us right away and we made it out with minutes to spare. We will definitely be back. Glad to have this new addition in Windsor.
