Being open-minded and interested in experiencing various walks of life pays off when living in Miami. Looked on eventbrite for something to do on a recent Friday night. Found a RuPaul's Drag Race elimination round watch party. And this is how I learned about Villain Theater! From what I gathered, there is quite a variety of programming here like improv and comedy shows.

A friend and I met up here for the big event. I've been familiar with Little Haiti for decades but admittedly haven't kept up with what's going on since the area started changing. All that to say, I went in totally blind. Well, honey. Villain Theater opened my eyes! Wide open, in a great way.

There is a lobby/waiting area with a concession stand and restrooms. The theater inside is dark with low lighting, plenty of seating and a stage that is easily viewable from any seat in the room. On the evening I visited, not only was there the RPDR watch party with amazing hosts, there was even an all-out revue! Now, I wasn't expecting this. Nevertheless, it was certainly an entertaining and tasteful experience with expert performers as well as amateurs. Pro tip is bring plenty of cash ($1s and $5s) - I know for next time. Performers also accept tips via electronic payment. 🙂

Villain Theater felt like an all-inclusive safe space. Everyone was welcomed in and treated with respect. I highly commend the staff and hosts for doing an excellent job in that regard. Major pluses were free parking, cheeeap drinks and they have popcorn!

I was looking for a Halloween cabaret for my birthday and I found an ad for Villain Theater. We were three couples coming from dinner at Zoi restaurant a few blocks away. We got to the theater and we saw a big crowd outside. Surprisingly we saw some kids because we called prior and were told it was 18 and over. When we got inside there were hardly any seats available and my party of six were split up. The show started and it was a band director and his middle school band members playing jazz. I was a little surprised again, but they were so good. Then a man came out and said he was going to be announcing all of his students and their songs for the night. At that point I realized we are actually at a concert for a school and their very talented arts program.And I’m surrounded by very proud parents. This was again quite unexpected! The kids were so good and so talented and they sang Halloween songs from my favorite movies. I wish Villain theater would have made it known that kids were allowed because I would have brought my own. We thought we were seeing a show for adults. I had an awesome time thanks to Avant Garde Academy!

This was such a great date night experience! The skits were actually funny. Very real and down to earth. The actors stayed in character so well and over exceeded my expectations for my first comedy show. Even the improv was really good. I highly recommend checking them out! If I was a local I’d definitely take a class as well, seems like good fun?

I love absolutely everything about this place! I checked out a few shows in the last few years and they were all awesome. I have since taken a few of their classes and they’ve all been nothing short of excellent! I had zero theater experience so I wasn’t sure how I’d mesh with everyone, but felt immediately at home thanks to the awesome teachers, the other students, and everyone who’s associated with this wonderful establishment. Our first visit to the Little Haiti area in Florida. We were all smiles and laughing so hard as the improv crew at the Villain Theater did a phenomenal job. My King and I stuck around for amateur comedy until midnight and the host & courageous comedians did not disappoint. Let me say this is a great date night experience. We are visiting from Oklahoma and we were 'straight' all night long!
